We engaged Luscious Leopard to improve the overall performance, structure, and user experience of our Shopify website.

The primary scope of work included:

1. Website Speed Optimisation (Priority)
Improve overall site performance, particularly mobile speed, by cleaning heavy custom scripts, restructuring the base theme, and optimising key performance metrics such as LCP, CLS, and Total Blocking Time.

2. Homepage & Navigation Restructure
Simplify website architecture by reducing category clutter, restructuring navigation flow for Co-ords and Tops, and creating a more streamlined and premium browsing experience.

3. Collection & Shop Page Enhancements
Improve collection layouts with better category navigation and the ability to insert promotional image blocks within product grids.

4. Product Detail Page (PDP) Redesign
Redesign the PDP to create a cleaner, more structured layout with improved pricing hierarchy, better size selection experience, and optimised content flow to support conversion.

As the engagement was discontinued due to communication gaps and lack of execution clarity, there were no measurable performance improvements delivered.

A preview theme and partial PDP layout adjustments were shared; however:

No measurable improvement in mobile performance scores was demonstrated
No before-and-after performance comparison was shared
Core restructuring deliverables remained incomplete

Since website speed optimisation was the primary objective of the project, and no validated performance metrics were delivered, progress toward the main goal could not be evaluated.

Project management lacked structure and technical clarity.

While onboarding communication was initially responsive, no clearly defined milestone plan or structured delivery schedule was shared after the project began.

Deliverables were not completed within expected timelines, and there were multiple instances where follow-ups went unanswered for 3–4 days at a stretch.

Meetings were difficult to schedule. More concerning, the assigned project manager mentioned he was new to Shopify and did not have full familiarity with platform-specific functionalities. Given that this was a Shopify performance and optimisation project, this raised significant concerns about technical oversight and execution capability.

Although preview links were shared, core priority objectives particularly website speed optimisation were not supported with measurable benchmarks, before-and-after comparisons, or structured progress updates.

Overall, their communication felt reactive rather than proactive, and there was no clear accountability framework in place.

Given the nature of the project focused heavily on speed optimisation and architectural restructuring we expected stronger platform expertise and proactive ownership.

Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

Greater transparency in technical capability and resource allocation would significantly improve client confidence.

For a Shopify-focused optimisation project, assigning a project manager who is still gaining familiarity with the platform created avoidable uncertainty around execution and oversight.

A clearly documented milestone plan, defined delivery timelines, and measurable performance benchmarks especially for speed optimisation should have been established from the outset.

More proactive communication and ownership would also have made a meaningful difference. Extended gaps in updates, difficulty scheduling meetings, and lack of structured progress reporting made it challenging to evaluate project direction.

Additionally, founder-level involvement reduced significantly after onboarding. For projects positioned around performance and optimisation, senior technical supervision and accountability are critical.

Overall, clearer expectation setting, stronger Shopify expertise alignment, and structured delivery governance would have improved the engagement substantially.
