We aimed to launch a product that would allow our customers' employees to access their lifestyle spending accounts via physical and virtual debit cards. We built core flows that enabled employees to create and managed their cards on both mobile and web surfaces, as well as internal tooling to manage the card product.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our primary outcome was to meet our commitment to a new customer launch that required debit cards as part of their program. As we are just launching, we don't have specifics on measurable outcomes, but over time we expect 

1. employees to spend less time submitting reimbursement requests while not being required to spend their own money out of pocket, and 
2. reduced cost to review reimbursement requests. Goals we are monitoring are overall transaction volume and success rate.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Yes, overall we delivered this project on time. We primarily used Confluence and JIRA to manage our deliverables. The team went above and beyond in terms of reacting to changing needs, as there were many learnings and changes we encountered during this new product launch.

What was your primary form of communication with LeverX?

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I think they care deeply about owning the project. I got the sense that once the goal was understood, they took strong ownership over the project plan, requirements and technical interactions with our debit card vendor.

Are there any areas for improvement or something LeverX could have done differently?

I don't have much to comment here, but if I had to come up with one improvement, it would be to continue to think about measuring impact and understanding the end user experience. This is tough for a development team since they are typically farther away from the user. Sometimes we miss things by not thinking of what the end user experience will be like, or struggle with requirements decisions without knowing the full context or end impact. 
I don't think this is entirely reflective of LeverX, but is something we need to continue to work together on.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the COO of a company called 6–8 Sports. We are a sports technology startup that exists to develop a platform for the collection of data, statistics, and analytics for the sport of water polo.

What challenge were you trying to address with LeverX?

When we first started the company, we were using another developer and we outgrew the types of service developments that they were able to offer. They designed the original mobile app and game desk, but we weren’t happy with what they had created for us. Our products were only available on the App Store, and we knew we needed to extend that to Android because a lot of our market is global. 

We hired LeverX to fix the development issues on those products, redesign them, and then continue to manage and develop them.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They took our original app and solved the issues on it, then redesigned the whole thing. It is now available for Android users. 

Our game desk is used to score water polo games and collects data, statistics, and analytics, which then export to the mobile app for individual athletes and their parents to look at. They develop and manage both of these products for us. 

They are also helping us build out and manage an external website called 6–8 Scores. General team scores are broadcasted onto this public website so fans can engage with their teams in that way. 

What is the team composition?

We always work with 1–2 core representatives from LeverX. When we started, we were primarily working with two people. One of them was Sergei (Lead UI/UX Designer) who had a bigger team working behind the scenes.

We now primarily work with Nikita (UI/UX Designer), who we talk to every day and meet over Zoom once a week with. There are other individuals involved in emails back and forth between us, but Nikita is our main point of contact. 

How did you come to work with LeverX?

We had a prior connection with Victor (CEO, President), and he explained the services that LeverX provides. We decided that it would be a good fit and started working with them after that. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around $350,000 dollars so far. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in June 2020, and it is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our mobile app was our original product, and we have over 1,000 current subscriptions, over 2,200 downloads, and 12,000 views since the start of summer. We have a 27% conversion rate, and had over 30,000 views in the App Store last year. 

We just launched our game desk in July 2022, so that product is relatively new, but we have 71 downloads so far, with a 50% conversion rate. 

How did LeverX perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very organized and on top of everything. We have a project manager on our end that works with Nikita on a daily basis, and as a team we meet once a week. They do an excellent job documenting all progress, and we get written records of everything. They’re detail-oriented and thorough in everything they do for us. 

Internally they use Jira, but we’re not a part of that. To communicate with them, we use Zoom, email, and WhatsApp. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're extremely responsive and anytime we have an issue, it gets resolved right away. They have great customer service and are invested in the project. They’re really good about communicating things to us and following up on everything they do. 

We have a time difference between us, but even when we have issues on the weekends or times when they probably should be asleep, they get back to us to help resolve everything very quickly. Their customer support is excellent. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

There have been times when we feel like the number of hours they need for certain projects are higher than what they should be, but we recognize that it’s because they’re taking precautions and being thorough. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

We would highly recommend them to anyone that is looking to develop. We're a very small startup and they have been great with us, but we would recommend their work for any size company. If you're looking to develop an app or technology and you want a very responsive and hardworking team, LeverX is a really great option.
