BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of information technology for the Society of Biblical Literature. I oversee hardware, software, networks, data, and IT-related personnel and vendors.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Leapfrog Services?

When I moved into this role, my organization was working with a systems administrator who applied the break/fix business model. This vendor was paid by the hour, and the more that things broke, the more income that this vendor was able to generate. So, it wasn't surprising that our applications, networks, servers, and workstations were frequently down. As a result, we needed to find a managed services provider that would stabilize our hardware and network infrastructure, stabilize our budget, and reduce our costs.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Leapfrog Services moved all of our websites from physical servers to cloud-based servers. They have their own private cloud, so all of our websites are on their private cloud. They also moved all of our work stations into a domain-based atmosphere so that their support team could support our staff and workstations remotely and manage them, such as implementing patches as they become available. Their team implemented a wireless network in our building.

What is the team composition?

I have an account manager that is assigned to a large support team that all of our staff have access to.

How did you come to work with Leapfrog Services?

I heard about Leapfrog because they advertised on a local NPR station. In response to my inquiry, they made a competitive proposal. Among multiple vendors that we considered, Leapfrog seemed to have the strengths needed to solve our problems.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent over $200,000 so far.  This amount includes onboarding services, special projects, and hardware. It also includes monthly subscription fees for private cloud services, user support, and hardware support.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in January 2016 and the collaboration is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

As a result, our hardware and network infrastructure are much more stable. The uptime for all of our sites has been nearly 100%. The feedback from our staff has been outstanding in terms of their ability to solve problems when there’s a call for support.

How did Leapfrog Services perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management team is outstanding. Generally, they assign individuals to the project depending on what it is and they knock them out quickly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their support team, project management team, and security team are all clearly experts in their areas of specialization.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Occasionally their account management team is out of sync with our specific needs.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I definitely recommend giving Leapfrog a call. When learning about their services, make sure that they understand and address the problems that you're looking to solve.
