I'm the VP of Marketing at Kimoby, a SaaS dedicated to providing dealership service departments with a fully integrated turnkey platform for all of their customer and internal communication purposes.

For the past 9 years, we've been able to acquire a majority of our new clients with customer referrals. The best way to digitalize this good word-to-mouth tactic was to record and distribute a range of these on our website and some other digital channels.

We looked for a video production company on Google and found LAPSE Production. We were impressed by one of the videos that was showcasing a Ferrari in a wind tunnel. The quality of the image, the music, and the whole storytelling definitely caught our attention. We were also very impressed by the questions that was in the contact form; it made us realize they cared about our marketing strategy and what we wanted to accomplish with the video.

We started with a few discovery and planning calls to make sure we were well aligned with the goals, the script, the vision and the length of each video. LAPSE productions travelled with us through various customer dealerships, took time to set themselves up and even helped our guests with their script. Post-production has been great, they were dedicated to delivering great video quality and adjusting each video with our feedback.

We worked with Dario, Kyrill and their team. All of them were super professional and awesome to be around. Communication has been great since day 1. They exceeded my expectations.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We started using our customer testimonial videos on our website and saw an increase in inbound leads as well as in the quality of each of them. Over 80% of people watch the entire video from start to end. Both sales and marketing teams have been using them in their nurturing email.

Dario has been available for us through various channel the entire time. Whether we needed to call them to go over strategy, email them with documents or even text them for quick side notes, we were able to get in touch quickly and get answers fast. This made the entire process very smooth, efficient, productive and we felt they were part of the Kimoby team.

Lapse started by getting a full understanding of the messaging and goals for the video, as well as the types of lifestyle shots we wanted. They gained a full understanding of the various locations of the shoot, the interviews we needed to complete, and worked with us to develop a schedule that would make sense. On the day of the shoot, they worked closely with us to make sure that they captured everything we needed for our video, and demonstrated a lot of flexibility during the shoot as things shifted. Kyrill was an amazing interviewer and made all of us feel at ease during the process.

The final video was amazing as well as the photos. The team worked with us to incorporate our feedback in a very thorough manner and delivered everything on time. From start to finish it was an awesome experience!

We needed to create promotional videos.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Lapse Productions helped us with our video production needs. We first held a planning session, during which we explained to them the concepts of each video. From there, they handled the entire production process, including the set preparation, shooting, and editing. Their team produced three videos for us — a four-minute video and two 90-second videos. All videos were published on our Youtube channel and Instagram account.

What is the team composition?

We worked directly with Kyrill (Co-Founder) and Dario (Co-Founder). There were also two other people who helped with the cameras, lighting, and other production elements.

How did you come to work with Lapse Productions?

I knew Kyrill from way back; we went to the same university. I reached out to him to do this project.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $10,000–$20,000 CAD (approximately $8,000–$16,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together on this project from November–December 2020.

The videos definitely helped us promote our company further. We also received positive feedback from viewers, which we were happy about.

How did Lapse Productions perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team managed the entire project perfectly; they met all deadlines and stayed within our budget. For communication, we interacted mainly through email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were most impressed with how talented they were — they produced quality outputs at a reasonable rate and worked well as a team. They were also very creative.

I can’t think of anything. We really had a great experience working with them.

I'm a graphic designer and digital coordinator at a financial services company headquartered in Montreal, Canada, and with offices around the world.

What challenge were you trying to address with Lapse Productions?

We hired Lapse Productions to create an interview video.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Lapse Productions helped us produce the interview video we required, which included filming the interview, making the montage, and creating a couple of small animations. My colleague and I worked on the script and storyboard beforehand, so I initially provided them with both, along with some notes on the interview.

After the briefing process, Lapse Productions was in charge of doing the rest. Their team had to go to our Toronto office to meet the interviewer and film in the office. I was in Montreal during the filming, but I could see the interview live remotely and provide feedback when needed. 

The interview was conducted both in English and French, so Lapse Productions had to film twice. I had to assist a little bit because they’re English speakers, so I had to be sure their French was good. Ultimately, they delivered a three-minute video in French and a two-minute video in English.

How did you come to work with Lapse Productions?

I found them on Google. I was trying to find a company in Toronto because the video was to be filmed there. I found a couple of other firms, but Lapse Productions had a portfolio of their videos on their website, including some interview videos.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October of 2021. The project lasted about 4–5 weeks, so the engagement ended in November 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The video produced by Lapse Productions is now on our website and social media pages, like LinkedIn. I heard from the marketing team that the people were very happy with it, and we received good comments.

How did Lapse Productions perform from a project management standpoint?

Lapse Productions performed very well, and they were always available for us. Our communication was mainly via email, phone calls, and video calls using Microsoft Teams. We also used a project management tool, but I don’t remember the name.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Lapse Productions was very professional and open to feedback. They worked very fast and delivered great quality work.

Go with them; they are very professional and creative, and they work very well.

I am the Immediate Past President of the American Marketing Association or AMA Toronto. Lapse Productions has been a partner of ours since February 2020, and over this time, they have supported various of our video needs, producing several video projects, most of which completed during the pandemic. The project described here is the latest project we have done.

We needed to retain and strengthen engagement with our audience during the pandemic to reverse the declining membership trends. We wanted to remind our community of the diversity, voices, richness of programming, and most importantly, the dedication of our volunteers to create value for the community. We included that video on our website home page, in the President's monthly blog, and on social media. We also had Lapse do several shorter cuts to repurpose as segments for Mentorship month, volunteer week, and diversity. These were used in social media.

We selected this vendor as they were a strong production company, great business problem solving ideas, and the commitment to become a partner. We have aligned values and love that the company focuses on the strategic value of the video. The partners have business education and strong business acumen which really shows in directing strategic work for us to elevate our marketing goals.

We started with a briefing of what we had in mind. Lapse already knows the organization well based on the last two years of work and delivered projects. We asked them to design something flexible that could work for various purposes and meet the availability needs of our volunteers. They came back with a modular approach that helped with that vision, made the separate segments consistent, and lends itself to different executions.

We worked directly with the partners, and in particular, Kyrill was our point of contact.

The video helped us reinforce the value proposition of our association and turn around for growth in our membership and acquisition of mentorship applications. The video also improved the engagement with our community in a world of virtual events, and helped us break through other competing content and tell our story in an impactful way.

We hired them the Lapse team to record 77 short content videos in both French and English.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have worked with them in the past on smaller projects and were great to work with.

We first met with the team to put a timeline together of all the recordings, when we need first drafts by, dates for feedback, and the final product. From there, the Lapse team put together mood boards in terms of how the set would look and examples we could choose from.

We then filmed our actors over the course of 3 weeks (full days). During those weeks they would start to edit the videos recorded and show us samples so that we were happy with it as wen went along. At the end we had a week to provide changes and feedback, from there they produced the final product. Since launching we have had minor feedback on the videos and the team has been very quick to send it back to us.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I worked with Kyrill and Dario. The feedback process was seamless, they would provide us links where we could comment directly on the video. The team also catered to people on our team who preferred giving their feedback over a call.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

If you sign up for a link on our site, you will be able to see the videos they recorded. Since launching we have had 200+ sign up for the platform and have given outstanding reviews on the quality of these videos.

They truly cater to your style. I would probably say we are a tough customer to work with because we always had multiple people from our team working with them and providing direction rather than one main project lead. They would cater to people's style ex. phone calls or all feedback over email/direct link. Throughout the process, we felt they were part of our team and worked hard to ensure we were happy.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I would say their flexibility, professionalism, and creative mindset.

I am the Director of Operations at an event agency. We support corporate clients in the planning, production and execution of their events and conferences.

One of our clients wanted to feature a series of customer testimonial videos to highlight their corporate success stories throughout their annual sales conference. We were able to send the raw footage to the Lapse Productions team, to create a series of testimonial videos that highlighted the strongest interview responses and consolidate and produce in a cohesive manner so we could showcase different customers throughout our conference (kick off the day, before and after breaks, etc.)

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Lapse productions came highly recommended from an industry colleague. After meeting with the partners and explaining our tight turn around timelines and requirements, there were able to turn around a proposal and an efficient plan of action for us. They instilled confidence from the start that they could take on the project and produce a strong final product.

We briefed the team on what we needed the videos for. We reviewed the series of interview questions / product features we wanted to highlight in the testimonials. The Lapse production team also provided us with suggestions on questions we can add to help create a strong opening and ending to the videos so that there was a cohesive and consistent feel between the videos. As each interview was conducted, we shared the raw video files with the team and they edited the interviews down into a series of 2min clips.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with a project manager who provided a timeline for us to provide assets and turn around time for us to receive first drafts. Due to the nature of our business, turn around times are quite short and demanding, but the team was always able to meet our requirements. We used Frame.io which allowed us to pause the video at specific frames and leave comments so that providing feedback was easy, efficient and accurate.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The client was extremely please with the final product (they used to use a different supplier for producing these videos in the past, and they like what Lapse Productions produced, and have since asked that we use them again for future video editing). The customers who were featured on the videos were also very pleased with how the final product came out.

Because of the fast paced nature of our industry, it was really important for us to find someone to work with who was quick to response to requests, can follow our feedback and direction accurately, and be able to work with tight timelines. The team was flexible with how we communicated, whether it was through email, text, zoom calls - they always made themselves available. Our clients and requirements are less "structured" and require partners who can easily adapt. We definitely found this in partners with Lapse Productions.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were able to suggest new ideas, simple solutions to cost effectively refresh and revamp the videos. Our client has been doing these customer testimonials for their conference for years, but we were able to work with the Lapse Production team to edit the videos in a fresh new way, to make them more interesting, more modern, and even too with the way they suggested we do the interview recording with camera angles.

To be honest, there is nothing I can suggest for improvement. We worked with Lapse Productions as an extension of our team and felt 100% comfortable having them speak directly with our client as a representative of our company. They were professional, respond in a timely manner, and always open to trying new things.

We originally looked at travelling to the U.S. to shoot the video and Lapse were supportive and resourceful pulling together a quote. We ended up shooting closer to home and were very pleased with the creative process and the editing which resulted in a high quality finished product.

In the initial meeting our team shared our brief idea and specific requirements with Dario. Then we finalized the script and then Lapse generated a detailed storyboard accordingly, along with a shotlist, day schedule and notes for the model. On the filming day our team was on the site with them so we can discuss and modify some details when needed. Lapse did a couple of modification for us until the final video version.
