BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of engineering of a delivery logistics company. Our organization mainly does logistics and delivery planning for industries and companies that do any type of pick-ups and deliveries.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Laplacian?

We needed someone who could provide software engineering outsourcing services for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They help us develop the mobile, web app, and backend side of our software. The application is a service where users can import their deliveries for the day, and the app will calculate the routes that the drivers should take on that given day. There’s also a user interface where the route planners can view the roads, change them, and edit them. On the mobile side, there’s an application where the drivers can see the information about their deliveries.

What is the team composition?

Around five people are working on the project, but three people are working with us simultaneously. There’s a senior mobile engineer, a senior frontend engineer, and a senior backend engineer.

How did you come to work with Laplacian?

They’re related to another Croatian company I’ve worked with in the past. They introduced me to Laplacian, and I evaluated them. They looked excellent, and I used them for a project five years ago. They did an outstanding job with that project, so we’ve been using them on several projects since then.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $500,000 with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since November 2019, and the project is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The metrics measured are the timely deliveries, the delivery of the code, and the number of bugs on the software released for the customer’s use. In all those metrics, they come out high — the number of bugs is really low, and they’re always on time with the deliverables.

How did Laplacian perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication has been great and consistent — we treat them as members of our team, and we talk every day.

What did you find most impressive about them?

As I said, they’re great at meeting deadlines. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s something they can improve on; they’ve been excellent. 

Any advice for potential customers?

Treat them as you’ll treat your employees. Make sure that they participate in project planning, that they do the same things that your engineers do, and communicate regularly with them so you can listen to their feedback.
