MAEZ is a specialist Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) compliance consultancy based in Adelaide, servicing transport operators, manufacturers, consignors and receivers across Australia. The business is led by Principal Consultant Matthew Wragg, who brings around 25 years of transport, supply chain, and compliance experience.

What specific goals or objectives did you hire Kompella Technologies to accomplish?

• We engaged Kompella Technologies to provide technical leadership for the ongoing development of CoRGuard, our Chain of Responsibility compliance platform for Australian heavy vehicle operators. As a compliance consultancy rather than a software house, we needed a partner who could turn regulatory and operational requirements into clear technical direction for our development team.
• A dedicated technical lead to manage the development roadmap, prioritise work and coordinate the build team
• Extending core modules, including contractor onboarding and inductions, audit and corrective action workflows, fleet and vehicle data, and fatigue management rule sets
• Building API endpoints so client reports could be generated automatically and bringing consistency across the CoRGuard and fleet portals as the platform scaled

Kompella Technologies provides ongoing technical leadership for CoRGuard under a monthly engagement. Ganesh acts as our technical lead. He maintains the development task register, works with us to scope and prioritize each item, turns our compliance requirements into technical specifications, coordinates the build team, and manages releases from our development environment to production once we have signed off.

Key deliverables within the scope include: 

• Contractor and worker management Configurable contractor onboarding questions (yes/no and free text)
• Contractor and sub-contractor onboarding logic, multiple inductions per user, and an owner induction at signup; audits, corrective actions and NCRs 
• Audits assigned and scheduled by user group, with multi-group selection 
• Email escalation for audits and corrective actions as due dates approach, including multiple action owners NCR reminders, overdue alerts and escalation to a nominated person or group 
• Reporting and automation
• Automated ageing reports for outstanding inductions and NCRs
• Tenant-wide reports for documents awaiting approval and expired documents
• API endpoints for automated executive reporting across incidents and hazards, audits, NCRs, fleet maintenance and onboarding
• Fleet and fatigue Vehicle data import and update for the fleet module
• Automatic assignment of fatigue rule sets (Standard, BFM, AFM) to drivers based on their induction records
• A consistent interface across the CoRGuard and fleet portals
• The engagement also covers planning for the next version of the platform, including role-based document visibility.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The clearest outcomes have been:

Delivery: 200+ items from our development register completed and released to production over 2yrs.

Automation: compliance reporting our team used to compile manually now runs automatically. This includes ageing reports for inductions and NCRs, and escalation notices for audits and corrective actions. It saves us around 120 hours per week.

Reporting: executive reports that previously took 2 days to prepare are now generated in minutes thanks to AI assistance.

Platform growth: CoRGuard now supports 20+ client organizations and 750 users, with every new monthly client set up on the platform as part of our standard service.

Process: A single prioritized task register with agreed urgency levels gives us clear visibility of what is being worked on and when it will be released.

Ganesh manages the work through a shared task register, and we agree on priorities together (urgent, high, normal, low, or parked for a later version). He is easy to reach, accepts changes in priority without friction, and completed work is staged in our development environment for us to review before it is released to production.

What stands out is Ganesh’s willingness to get into the details of a very specialized field. CoRGuard is built around Australian heavy vehicle law, including fatigue rule sets, corrective action escalation and contractor compliance, and he has engaged with those requirements rather than treating them as generic features. Having him as a single point of contact who coordinates the development team means we deal with one person who understands both what we need and how it gets built. He is also flexible when our priorities change, which matters for a small business balancing client demands with product development.
