As with any project, deliver ability on a scheduled time is important. Kalapa not only met but exceeded those deadlines, even jumping in to help with development questions or additional tasks along the way. Kalapa also have a custom dashboard to track timelines, expenses, tasks and blockers. 

This allows for everyone part of a project to have a single place to keep informed. This was invaluable throughout the process and allowed us to streamline the communication to lessen the amount of meetings and seemingly less traditional time-draining events.

I am the Head of Marketing and Cofounder of a blockchain infrastructure company. We are building an entire framework that redefines how actors in the cryptocurrency space transact in a compliant and secure manner.

Recommendation from our close network. We needed a flexible, yet reliable design agency that could bring a fresh take on all our branding and assets.

The original request was to build brand guidelines and re-brand the entire website. This required weekly meetings and work reviews for a month or so. After that we began asking for more complex design and web development projects, e.g., a user facing dashboard. We segmented deliverables into three main sections: regular design assets, i.e., banners and social media graphics for day-to-day use; web-development for dashboards and user facing products, e.g., a smart-contract linked staking product that can be further expanded with more functions, and brand-specific work like branding guidelines, spin-off brands and marketing advice. All work was done and shared on Figma, and communication was done on slack.

In total, we worked with the co-founder and a team of two designers and one project manager. The firm also sub-contracted a web3 development firm who they managed and interacted directly.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The graphic assets have all received high praise from community and clients. Our websites have also been well received and, one in particular, won a design award. The UIs and product development work was also high quality and our own tech teams noticed how reliable and polished it was.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective, with minimal bureaucracy to the point where we, as clients, had to embed some control mechanisms to avoid over-burdening them with random requests. Their communication has always been clear and they have met most of the deadlines. They also communicated closely whenever a deadlines was potentially not going to be met.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond. The quality of the work has always been impressive and we have felt that they required very minimal hand-holding.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

A tighter work-scheme and prioritization can help deal with unorganized clients. Also billing could be made a bit tighter to avoid surprises or misunderstandings. That said, they have always been open to criticism and are willing to make any changes necessary to help improve the relationship.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our landing page had a few unique widgets including a real-time crypto ticker at the top which, thanks to Kalapa's implementation, looks extremely well-done. This small detail speaks to the professionalism and competence with which the Kalapa team works. Particularly in the new and exciting field of crypto and blockchain technology, their expertise is second to none, which has been a great asset to the development of Kingfish as a whole.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was exceptional. Whenever we had questions or needed to make tweaks, Kapala was ready, willing, and excited to implement our ideas. The Slack channel has always been an open forum that encourages a two-way discussion between our team and theirs -- which provided us great support and direction as we worked through this project. The weekly calls over Google Meet in which we bounced ideas off each other also enabled us to further flesh out the vision of our project.

Kalapa Design Studio has a favorable balance between adaptability to novel ideas that push their creative limits, while also remaining extremely connected to the tried and true practices that have led to previous success. Such a combination is rare to find, but Kalapa certainly checks these boxes, and more. Definitely a go-to company for all crypto needs.

Occasionally, when it is necessary to make slight revisions to the drafts of the project, the time it takes between communicating and executing is a bit extended, but this speaks more to the level of detail and range of projects that Kalapa has, rather than a real deficiency in any particular area on their part.

We had already thought about a structure for the landing page and they did not hesitate to add a lot of value and suggest new sections that made it stand out. They started by building out the site in Figma and defining the styles and components based in what they know, has worked best for the industry. The result was absolutely stunning.

The work went above and beyond from what we originally expected. The UX/UI was beautifully done, and they took into account everything, from the copy writing to the website's interactivity. It really looks like a top notch site.

They are always super easy to communicate with and proactive with letting us know when they needed feedback or wanted to show progress. The workflow was super steady and we communicated via slack.

The trust that they built really impressed us, but their talent and quality is what I would say stands out the most. They had incredible attention to detail and were 100% up to date with the latest trends.

We saw a huge increase in website speed on mobile, which was the biggest improvement that we were looking for. Too soon to tell on increased sales, but based on the new design we are confident we will see growth.

We communicated mainly through Slack, and through an app called click-up. Chris was great at communicating timelines with us, and we could check click-up any time to see where the project was at. We also had weekly check-in meeting where we chatted over zoom and I could see what he was working on.

The amazing attention to detail, and the way that Chris and the team really took this project on as if it was their own. They WANT me to succeed. It did not feel like just a job for them. I am really amazed at the dedication and love of the work that they do.

Nothing that jumps out as insane. I would usually get quick responses back when I had a question. It seems like a huge ammount of updated would be mass-completed in click-up and I would have rather had real-time updates instead. That is just being really nit-picky though.

We started with a breakdown of tasks and overall vision of the project. Then they got to work in mocking up some designs based on our criteria. Throughout the process, we were in constant communication, working on iterations together. It was a very collaborative process.

We used Telegram for communication, iMessage, email, and the site was built on WordPress using the Elementor framework.

I worked with both founding members of the organization. A very personal service I was incredibly happy with.

They hit the nail on the head with each deliverable. There were a few revisions based on suggestions or things that didn't work the first time around from a design/concept stance, but overall everything was great.

Communication was excellent. Turnaround time was great as well. To be fair, I was a bit of a bottleneck due to travel at times when they needed additional content or resources, but everything worked out great.

Communication and overall experience. They really understand the space and what I was looking for. Since the crypto industry is moving fast, it's hard to find people who not only understand but "get" how to develop a project within the space. Kalapa really understood everything and was extremely helpful throughout the process.
