There are two key areas where they could improve in future:

  1. Communication between the developers and our team could be clearer. Due to the language barrier it was sometimes difficult to understand the Developer's comms and I think he also found it difficult to understand us.
  2. Ensuring that the product meets the design specification. A lot of revisions and extra work had to be done, which should've been picked up by IIH's QA / testing team.

We needed to combine all the functionalities of these platforms to build one master hub to minimise errors, allow for information to be shared efficiently and having all team members inputting and exporting information from the same, live database.

From the first meeting, we were put at ease. Our brief was understood and correctly interpreted. We needed a results-driven company to help create a master hub that would ensure all platforms we currently work on can be combined into one, and ultimately reduce workload within the company so we are able to focus primarily on our customer service.

They designed and developed a new customer management solution that allowed us to work efficiently and smarter. Once we provided a detailed flowchart of our workflow from initial meeting to delivery, the developers team began production and we began to see results almost instantly. We were able to test each section as and when they were ready and provide feedback to undergo additional changes to meet our requirements.

We were given a primary point of contact so communication back and forth was easy with effective comprehension. Recommended changes were made swiftly as our feedback was then voiced to the team and the system was developed swiftly.

What challenge were you trying to address with IIH Global?

We wanted to find a low-cost web developer who could do day-to-day work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we had a Magento 1 website and redesigned the website completely by adding many extensions. They take care of the day to day improvements and little things, as well.

Additionally, we recently transitioned from Magento 1 to Magento 2. This involved building a completely new website and adding a few more extensions. All of the implementation is done by IIH Global.

What is the team composition?

I interact with a couple of people on their team, including Sanjay (Senior Project Manager, IIH Global), who is based in London.

How did you come to work with IIH Global?

We had used a few agencies in India in the past and we had a decent relationship. The developer we had been working with for a couple of years prior left the company and they no longer had a Magento specialist.

At that point, we were forced to look for a new supplier, and I believe I came across IIH Global through Freelancer.com. After I contacted them, Sanjay and I struck up a rapport straight away.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in 2017, and the work is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We continue to receive positive reactions as we improve the website more and more every day. For example, we just added the ability to share variations and explain variations of products by using an image icon for the product itself, which users have been very excited about. Every little change IIH Global has implemented helps the user journey and experience to be a bit better. 

How did IIH Global perform from a project management standpoint?

Sanjay is the point-person between the Indian team and us. We are a small company, so we aren’t providing a lot of guidance to them, but they've done a very good job of moving the project forward nonetheless.

We have a daily conversation via Skype and I send a screenshot or design of what we want. By anywhere from the end of that day to within two to three days, they've always accomplished it. We now have a retainer in place, so we have a certain amount of work that is done regardless, as well, which has been working quite well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have been very fast and reliable. The price they charge is fair and the working relationship we have built is quite good.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Considering that we aren’t providing paperwork or a specific scope the way other companies might, things have been good.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

When using offshore companies, I have found it is better to use designers in the country you are working from so they can design a frontend that is desirable to customers in that country.

In building websites, there needs to be input from both sides. It needs a lot of work not only from IIH Global but also on your end, to look at and review as well as test and pass everything. I think as long as that working relationship is well-established, progress should flow well between the teams from one task to another.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our solution is very successful and that is due to the team's ability to adapt to new challenges quickly. Pharmacy is constantly changing (legislation, new good practice policies, new services etc) so the developers have coded the system in a way that was can adapt quickly whenever we need to. They are also unbelievably responsive to changes and research a solution if they cannot think of one on the spot and get back to my team with a proposed plan and time frame. At the end of the day I get a breakdown of what work has been completed.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project manager is the best I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He is contactable 24/7 (literally) and goes above and beyond his call of duty.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I can manage the developers directly via Skype through a group. I get daily updates of everything and the developers run any changes required by me before implementing this. Again, the project manager exceeds all expectations and our company wouldn't be where we are today if it was not for IIH and Sanjay. Whenever there have been issues, these have been remedied instantly.

Having a dedicated team by my side has completely transformed my business, allowing me to take on bigger projects with a higher level of technical needs. This also took a lot of the annoying tasks off my plate and allowed me to focus on running and growing the business rather than doing the day to day development and maintenance work.

At first, deadlines were a problem but the team worked hard to make up for the lost time. Including overtime and working on weekends in extreme cases. We're managing the team using TeamWork which is a project management system, Support desk, Chat system, So that everyone is always in control of what needs to be done.

Their dedication to finding good solutions for me and for my clients is impressive.

Internal management of time to let me know when there's downtime or wasted time within the team so that I can allocate more tasks or initiate personal projects rather than spending money on unutilized resources.
