At SERENE, our mission revolves around revolutionizing how medical data is used in critical environments—particularly in defense and aerospace healthcare settings. Our primary challenge was to develop a platform that could integrate fragmented medical data into one seamless ecosystem, empowering users (both professionals and patients) to make informed, real-time decisions.

What specific goals or objectives did you hire IBC Studio to accomplish?

• We approached IBC Studio with the ambitious goal of creating a secure, scalable, and intelligent platform that could synthesize complex data and render it in a way that was actionable, especially under high-stress, mission-critical conditions. This platform also needed to power our Point of Care HealthJournals—a library of authoritative medical content spanning hundreds of disease categories. The objective was to enhance both clinician workflows and patient education, without sacrificing speed, usability, or compliance with stringent data protection standards.

Design and development of a custom medical data platform that consolidated disparate sources (EHRs, wearables, patient logs, and defense health archives) into a singular, interpretable timeline.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The results have been deeply impactful. One of the most immediate benefits was the drastic reduction in time needed by clinicians to access complete patient histories, even when those histories were previously distributed across incompatible systems. In one specific instance, a field medical team reported that they were able to identify a patient’s allergy and contraindication within seconds using the new timeline view—a process that would’ve previously involved combing through PDF logs.

The HealthJournal integration also resulted in more engaging, efficient patient education sessions, with many military doctors noting that patients better understood their conditions after reading through condition-specific HealthJournals. From a training perspective, new medical staff onboarded faster thanks to the intuitive interface and clear data flow.

Additionally, with the CMS and API infrastructure in place, we’ve been able to launch new journals and update existing ones in a fraction of the time it previously took, increasing our agility significantly.

IBC Studio demonstrated excellent project management throughout the engagement. Each milestone was well-defined and delivered with precision. When timelines shifted due to internal delays on our end (often involving compliance reviews or partner feedback), IBC Studio adapted seamlessly, rearranging sprint priorities without any friction.

Their communication was transparent and consistent—weekly calls, demo sessions, and written progress reports kept all stakeholders aligned. They were highly receptive to feedback and demonstrated a clear commitment to understanding and accommodating the nuances of our domain, even when that meant going beyond the original scope to prototype alternate workflows or build additional admin controls.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Domain Adaptability – Despite coming from a non-defense background, their team quickly grasped the regulatory and operational complexities of our industry. They asked insightful questions, ran their own independent research, and offered creative yet compliant solutions we hadn’t considered.
Human-Centered Design Thinking – The platform didn’t just work; it felt intuitive, even under stressful usage conditions. They incorporated real-world feedback from our medical staff, resulting in an experience that genuinely empowered users.

Are there any areas for improvement or something IBC Studio could have done differently?

The only area we feel could be strengthened is post-deployment documentation. While they delivered all the critical handover materials, we found ourselves occasionally needing clarification on more granular API behaviors or deployment procedures. Once flagged, their team was quick to assist, and even organized an extra walkthrough session for our DevOps staff.

Going forward, a more proactive documentation cadence during sprints—rather than at the end—would help reduce transition friction. That said, their ongoing support and responsiveness largely mitigated this shortcoming.
