What was the scope of their involvement?

We begin each engagement by explaining the project’s needs and the type of equipment we’re looking for. Pink Hippo Productions then gives us recommendations on which tools would be most suitable for the job. From there, we come up with an equipment list and mutual budget, and their team provides us with the agreed upon tools.

I typically work with 1–2 people from their team. Nick (Owner, Pink Hippo Productions) is my main point of contact.

Pink Hippo Productions is local to us in Chicago, so I reached out to see if they’d be interested in helping us.

We’ve spent around $500,000 on their services and the equipment.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together on an ad hoc basis since 2015.

We continue to use Pink Hippo Productions because we’re satisfied with the services they provide. They continually fulfill our needs, and we’ve had good experiences with their team.

Communication with Pink Hippo Productions is smooth. They do a good job of responding to our need, and we primarily use email. Their team works well according to our guidelines.

Every project is different, but they continually adapt their process and find the best solutions. Other vendors aren’t willing to be as flexible and open as Pink Hippo Productions—they handle challenging conditions other teams would shy away from. Their team knows the right approach for our needs and always completes the projects efficiently, which I appreciate.

We partnered with Pink Hippo Productions to produce two videos.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to digitally replicate the experience of visiting our office; that way, site visitors can feel more connected to our brand and our products before meeting with us in person.

We found them through a referral, and our initial interview impressed us enough to choose them.

Pink Hippo Productions helped us create two videos. The first showcases our culture to potential job candidates and prospective customers; we wanted to establish a connection to our team. The second video showcases how we differ from our competition.

For each video, we underwent a similar process. Pink Hippo Productions first did a walkthrough of our facility and met with a handful of people about a week before filming. This step helped them understand our culture and our vision for the video. We further defined that vision and the shots we wanted over a handful of emails. On the day of the shoot, we lined up each interview and then shot B-roll footage. After filming, Pink Hippo Productions conducted two rounds of edits before we felt that the video was ready to publish.

The team was very responsive and a pleasure to work with.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

It’s too early to see quantifiable results. However, our executive leadership praised Pink Hippo Productions’ work on both videos. They helped fill the gaps in our content marketing.

The project ran smoothly from start to finish. Pink Hippo Productions communicated clearly throughout the process.

The team understood our culture well, resulting in high-quality videos. They were easy-going throughout the project and acted as a partner to us.

We had some ambiguity going into the shoot about what the final product would look like. We could have done a better job fully understanding our vision in advance.

We established a bid process with four local production companies, but Pink Hippo Productions impressed us by meeting our budget parameters and showing us their plan for executing the project.

We’ve worked with the Pink Hippo Productions’ team on multiple projects, but they all follow a similar process. First, we develop scripts and hire talent in coordination with our end-client. During pre-production, we transition responsibilities to Pink Hippo Productions that include organizing locations, scheduling, budgets, crew, and equipment. My team serves as the executive producer and creative director throughout project production, while their group assumes the majority of other tasks for this stage.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Most of the management and feedback is delivered in real time because we work together very closely. We communicate in-person on a daily basis throughout the project. We have a primary point of contact, but we are in touch with several key members of their team.

For the majority of the projects we’ve partnered with Pink Hippo Productions on, the clients have returned for more business. All projects they’ve done for us have exceeded expectations when delivered.

The projects we assign Pink Hippo Productions require producing a large amount of work within a tight timeframe, and they always successfully complete them. They work within a reasonable budget and are enthusiastic about achieving our shared goals. Their flexibility and resourcefulness allow them to meet our expectations consistently.
