Hexlab is helping us develop an iOS and Android mobile app with booking and payment processing capabilities from scratch. It uses Stripe as the third-party payment processing technology.

Initially, I had a conversation with Hexlab about the project, during which we conducted an initial requirement scoping that kicked-off a detailed requirement-gathering process with myself, my team, and Hexlab's team. The initial discovery process took about two months.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Hexlab techahead has been able to cover over 90% of my initial requirements for this app development project, which is a lot. Anything else I add to the app moving forward is in the periphery and represents the outstanding 10% of the initial requirements. Moreover, the quality of their work has been world-class.

The app enables students to create class groups where other classmates can be added by email. Users have usernames, which they can make anonymous. The various groups become electronic classrooms, where users are able to chat with each other just like a social media website. For example, if a student finds a resource for an upcoming test, he or she will able to share it on the main page for that class to open, download, and like. students can also be added to groups to share their perspectives on a class.

The app is fully developed, but I’m waiting until this coming year to launch it since certain schools want to review the app before allowing student use. I’ve tested the app, and introduced it to my business partners, who all agree that it fits our original business model.

They followed up with me every step of the way for this project, and they have an amazing team. Their communication was consistent and reliable, and they frequently updated me on their progress. This system of checks and balances ensures that one aspect of the team’s development process doesn't fall behind other aspects.

Compared to the other companies I had considered, Hexlab went the extra mile. They way they treated us reflected their passion for making reliable apps beneficial to small businesses. It didn’t feel like we were simply doing business, but as if we made a friend. We’ve worked with Hexlab on multiple projects. For the last 3–4 months, we’ve been working on a marketplace web and mobile app, and we’re currently finalizing the development phase. They’ve worked on native iOS and Android apps, as well as cross-platform ones. For our web projects, they used custom, open-source frameworks like Laravel, .NET, Zend, and Yii PHP.

We initially gave them smaller projects, but we’ve come to give them larger ones as well. We’ve had projects They get full marks from me in terms of quality.

They’re our development partner, and we’re happy to outsource our work to them. We initially had our own development team, but we’re comfortable with Hexlab so we outsource all our projects to them. It’s allowed us to scale up our business.

They’ve performed well in this respect. Hexlab uses fast and responsive project management tools for tracking our dedicated team’s time, and they’ve managed our projects smoothly. We use Slack and WhatsApp for communication and Trello for posting tasks and comments.

We provide wireframes for our projects, and we require a software requirements specification document on that basis, which is a sensitive part of any development project. This makes requirements clearer. We’ve had some hiccups around development, but this is fine. I understand that mistakes happen.
