Hagan, Johnson and Associates were hired to address a tax issue I was having.

There are none. They did not do any work on the case and are claiming that they did.

They did not respond to my needs. The last communication I had with them was a statement that showed no work and that I had full credit for what I paid.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Nothing.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Hagan, Johnson & Associates, CPA, PC could have done differently?

I hired this firm back in December of 2021 for a tax issue I was having. There was an initial issue after I paid them, as I had sent them (as requested) personal information and my tax returns that went "missing." They never found them, and I had to send them again, which I had my husband hand deliver. They asked me to send subsequent information, which I did. I even sat on the phone and discussed it with their Admin. 

I received "statements" from them but no other communication from them other than that. No emails, phone calls, or standard mail. I admittedly did not keep on top of it as I should have, but in our initial meeting, the accountant, Mr. Hagan, told me that the IRS was extremely backed up, and this was reiterated to me by the media. 

I run my own company and have 3 children. One of them is special needs, and I am home full time, so I am, needless to say, very busy. I take full responsibility for the fact that I did not check in with them, but believed that if there was an issue, they would have contacted me. Today, it came to mind, and I sent an email to inquire as to my case's status. I was shocked when I received the following response: 

"Jennifer, after multiple attempts to get the required deduction information from you with no result, Mr. Hagan reluctantly had to close out this case. He applied the initial prepayment outlined below toward the work that was already done and then wrote off all the remaining time that he had in the case that was over what you had originally paid.

We hope you understand that we can not keep a case open when we can not get the required information from a taxpayer to properly prepare and file a return." 

There were no requests for any additional information other than the one that I responded to and called and went over with their admin, as stated above. There is no communication other than what was stated, as I keep all emails, phone records, texts, and communication for EXACTLY this reason. 

What "work" was done? If they did not have any information as they claim, then what "time" or "work" was invested?? How can you do any work if you have nothing as they claim? If they "closed" out my case, why did they not return the documents they had received? Why was there no "final" statement sent via mail or email? 

Their claims are clearly not true, and they are attempting to shift the blame for their mishandling of my case. I have only 2 statements that they ever sent me, one from April 2022 and June 2022 - both state that I had paid $500, but there is no deduction for any work done. 

The June statement is the last communication I had from them. So not only is personal and private information of mine "lost," but they're claiming work they've never done, trying to shift blame, and taking money for services they fail to deliver. That is extremely dishonest and shows a lack of integrity. 

I DO NOT recommend Hagan, Johnson, and Associates for business or personal taxes, and I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, The State Attorney General, and the Georgia State Board of Accountancy.
