BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I work as Software Engineer Manager at BBVA US (currently PNC) in Birmingham, Alabama. BBVA US was part of the BBVA Group located in Spain and it was present in 7 states (Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, and Texas), being the 39th largest bank in the United States by total assets.

For what projects/services did your company hire GoNet?

We had several GoNet resources in different areas. We had some of them in teams under my responsibility as Staff Augmentation. They worked as part of our Production Support and Development teams in collaboration with bank employees and other vendors.

How did you select this agency and what were the deciding factors?

The company was selected based on the work they do in Mexico for BBVA Mexico and their performance and success in several corporate and Mexican projects.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

GoNet developers were part of the Run the bank teams working on Production Support activities for our core banking system as well as members of our Change the Bank teams working on development for new functionality.

We discussed the needs with a GoNet representative and they provided us with different options to select and place developers. We worked with both developers offsite in Mexico as well as developers in our offices in Birmingham.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

Along the eight years that GoNet partnered with BBVA US, there are many successes by teams with GoNet team members, from the creation of the new Safe Box system to the conversion of BBVA data to PNC systems that marked the end of BBVA US.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

GoNet developers were part o our team at Birmingham. Off-site developers, working from Mexico, had a team lead in Birmingham to coordinate and facilitate the administrative tasks. We have always had an open and fluent relation.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Very personal relation, always looking for the win-win options for their developers and our bank. They have always been open to changes related to the evolution for the work and the teams and to moving developers and reshaping work as needs arise.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Since this is a small company compared to other companies we used, and their main workforce is in Mexico, not the US, it takes a little longer for them to find candidates.
