What challenge were you trying to address with Funny fat dog?

We needed a company that could provide us with video production services.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired Funny fat dog to create a 3D animated company mascot. They started by creating simple character sketches for us to choose from. From there, they added more detail to the sketches before recreating them in 3D. After that, they started the video production process. They wrote the script, found the actors and a location, filmed footage, and produced three animated videos with the 3D mascot.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m impressed with how professional and high-quality the videos were. Viewers loved the videos, too. These were definitely one of the best marketing materials we’ve released so far.

I'm an Executive Producer at BluBlu Studios - a global, award-winning animation production company. Creating content for small companies and Fortune 500 corporations.

For what projects/services did your company hire Funny fat dog , and what were your goals?

Our studio was contracted to produce two television commercials for the US market. Since we only had the capacity to produce one of them, we hired Funny fat dog to do the animation for us, based on the storyboard and design we provided. Our goal was to create a quality animation that was consistent with our creative brief and the client's expectations.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We met Funny fat dog long before we had the opportunity to collaborate on this project. From the very beginning, they proved to be professionals both in terms of 3D animation and work organization. As soon as the opportunity to work together came up, we offered them to join the project.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

Our studio was responsible for storyboard and design. Funny fat dog took care of the animation.

This stage was broken down into smaller parts, including:

• creating concepts of locations
• creating concepts of characters
• creation of 3D models of the locations and characters 
• creation of 2D assets and 2D backgrounds
• texturing
• rigging
• animation At each of these stages

Funny fat dog proved to be very collaborative, flexible, and open-minded. Very quickly we were able to work out the results that both us and the client were satisfied with.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

The main people I communicated with were the Account Manager and Production Manager. But I also had the pleasure of communicating directly with the creatives when there was a need to discuss creative aspects. Funny fat dog proposed a way of communicating and exchanging information and materials that allowed for efficient communication between interested team members while avoiding bottlenecks.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The client very quickly accepted the final version of the animation, fitting within the number of revision rounds we assumed. After the publication of the clip, the client came back to us with a request for additional content and also for providing assets from the original video that could be used in the marketing communication.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

At the beginning, during the discovery phase of the project, we communicated by email, and phone and held online meetings. When we started the project, all the production and creative matters, exchange of feedback, etc., were handled through Basecamp. Each time we reached a milestone, we held an online meeting to discuss the results so far and the next steps. I would then receive confirmation of the next steps via email. Each stage of production was completed within the planned timeframe.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

When working on projects with tight deadlines, peace of mind and confidence that everything will be delivered on time are almost as important as the high quality of the final product. When we started our first project with Funny fat dog, we had no doubts about the latter aspect, but we didn't know what it looked like from the project management side. Very quickly it turned out that the project was in good hands. The combination of efficient communication, talent, and flexibility of the team in terms of creative solutions led to the creation of an animation that very quickly won the heart of the client.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not really.

I am a Senior Project Manager in marketing agency dobocom. We provide marketing strategies and marketing tools, create content and manage brand communication - mostly for B2B clients.

For what projects/services did your company hire Oversee?

Our client, a logistics operator, needed a tool to explain their role in delivering a package to e-commerce consumer. We recommended the video form which would dynamically explain the whole operation, from ordering to getting the package but shown within the emotional history of ordering the package by mother and daughter.

What were your goals for this project?

We hoped to create a tool that will shortly explain the role of our client in logistics operation and present the company as technologically advanced expert in logistics but also to show a human face of the company.

SOLUTION

How did you select Oversee?

We concidered two video production studios to work with us in this project. The deciding factor that led to select Oversee was their excellent portfolio.

Our agency deliveder the creative idea and the script to the video and was managing the whole project. Oversee was responsible for the video production, from storyboarding and filming to postproduction. Oversee was filming in multiple locations: the private house, the company's office and in the warehouse. We used both professional actors and company's employees. Oversee delivered modern solutions during the production, e.g. POV of the package.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Oversee provided the whole professional film crew - from director to MUA. We had two or three feedback rounds.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Out client was very pleased with the final video. It was shown during presentions, conferences and fairs.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

In the project, we had to connect three parties: the studio, the agency and our client. Communication was hassle free and the project was completed on time.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We have worked with many studios. Oversee is distinguished by a professional team and approach, thanks to which it was possible to create a unique video. The team has vast knowledge and skills in video creation. Working with Oversee turned out to be a great pleasure :)

Wydawnictwo Poznanskie is one of the finest publishing houses in Poland, if not one of the biggest as well. At the time of working with Oversee, I was taking care of video production in the company including book trailers. I’ve also taken care of marketing, content production, and website management.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oversee?

We needed Oversee’s help with creating and promoting videos.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Oversee created video content for us and they also connected us with promotion partners. One of the videos was an animated book presentation using stock images and music. 

After that, we worked on two other book trailers which were more elaborate, using actors and scenography. The first of those was for the book Hashtag by Remigiusz Mróz, the top crime author in Poland. The second one was for our Christmas campaign featuring several season books. 

What is the team composition?

I worked with Paweł (Account Director) who took care of client and production management. For the bigger productions, I also worked with the film director.

How did you come to work with Oversee?

I was part of the same Facebook groups for filmmakers as them. I sent campaign briefs to a few members of those groups and also searched online. After that, I got lots of propositions and one of them was from Paweł. Oversee’s offer was closest to our budget. Also, both of our companies were based in Poznań so we met with them. 

Paweł had a very nice client approach and we enjoyed talking to him about the films. He understood what we needed and he was well-prepared for the conversation. For us, Oversee seemed to be a good choice.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around 10,000 zł (approximately $2,500 USD). The project cost was not a lot for video production but Oversee was crazy about our project, given that it involved famous books and authors. They were also able to get a famous Polish actor to appear in one of the videos at no cost because they liked the concept of the book and script.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them between June–July 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The video about the book Hashtag was the most popular one on our channel, receiving a lot of views and comments on social media.  As a result, we sold a lot of copies. 

How did Oversee perform from a project management standpoint?

Oversee had everything under control. They were responsible for getting the actors, sets, and equipment ready. I oversaw the shoot and it was great. There was a little situation during editing. We were close to the deadline and premiere and we needed the material fast. 

As a client, we had lots of opinions which caused a little problem. We saw the books differently than the director who had a strong sense of the video he was making. In the end, we asked for a lot of changes which made the deadline more challenging. Also, there were captions and a book presentation at the end of the video which was very important for us and they just didn’t focus on it. Thankfully, we remembered those for the Christmas video so it turned out okay.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Oversee’s client support was impressive. Paweł was always in contact with me to share their work and see what was happening with my company. They were very supportive during the project and took care of any problems that came up.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They have very strong ideas about their scripts and direction but the client may want something else at times. Oversee’s job was to create the best films possible but the results should also be good for the client. I managed the productions and was responsible for showing them to my bosses who had differing opinions about the film director at times. He didn’t want to show a lot of products in the films and wanted to focus more on storytelling, but as the client, we wanted to show more books.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

With any collaboration like this, the client should know what they want to get from the film at the briefing stage. They shouldn’t be afraid to ask Oversee any questions because they’re very helpful. If the client doesn’t have a big enough budget, they can bring it up with Oversee. They can find a solution whether the client has 2,000 zł (approximately $510 USD ) or 10,000 zł (approximately $2,500 USD).

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm one of two co-founders of Parapix AB - a Scandinavian production agency located in Stockholm. We're currently 17 people in the company and we facilitate the entire production chain, from concept to finalized product.

For what projects/services did your company hire Oversee?

Our client requested a 2D infomercial/explainer video, which could be based off of their pre-existing brand iconography. At the time of this project we did not have a section in house to handle animations, so I simply reached out to Oversee and asked if this was something they'd be interested in helping out with. They quickly responded and provided me with some suggestions and reference videos, along a price tag that was within our range.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create something that moved well, looked well and that exceeded both the client's, and our expectations. The turnout of the project was dependent on how well the project manager and animator could read and understand our pre-made script.

SOLUTION

How did you select Oversee?

I'm having a hard time recalling, but I think they contacted me a while back. Either that or a colleague had heard about them and recommended them. Either way, once I'd had the first initial meeting there wasn't a big leap to actually hire them for a first gig. They felt structured and professional, and their showreel indicated they knew what they were doing.

Describe the project in detail.

We wrote the initial script and locked the VO before Oversee started the animations. The next step was to go through the clients' requests and other notes, along with the style guide and icons. From there we discussed a time plan, which I then locked with our client, and then Oversee jumped on it. Shortly after, we received a few mockups which we then used to lock the lock and feel with the client.

Once that was done, Oversee started animating, creating the first draft. Once that was in the box they suggested a few VO-actors, facilitated the sound recording, then incorporated the mixed track into the next version of the video. From that point on we simply bounced feedback in new editions back and forth until we felt happy with everything.

What was the team composition?

As this was a while ago I have some trouble recalling exactly how it went down, but I think I only had one point of contact - Zoskia. She handled everything from budget to project managing (as mentioned if I remember correctly).

The point is, as a client it was really nice to be able to give/receive funneled down information, and not needing to have big meetings where you need to make sure everyone's on the same page. It was a very 'boiled down', straight forward way of working.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As we're just a link in the chain in this collaboration we're not the end-user of the product, so unfortunately I don't have any data of that. However, I know that our client was very pleased with the result, and so were we.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Since it was a small team, the workflow was really good. No bumps at all in our opinion.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Once I'd delivered my brief, the budget had been sealed and I'd sent overall assets they were really self-sufficient. I didn't have to be particularly involved until we received the first draft, which was really nice.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not that I can come to think of.

I’m the co-founder of a digital agency. We focus on helping our clients be visible on the internet. We produce WordPress websites for medium-sized organizations and e-commerce platforms for small and medium webshops.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oversee?

One of our clients asked us to help with video production. We needed help with this project because it isn’t within our normal scope of work. It was a big execution and the expectations were really high.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided an end to end solution for us. We gave them the initial idea which evolved through our collaboration with them. They provided everything. We were overlooking the execution and making sure that the theme of the video was aligned with the bigger marketing strategy. 

They filmed it and provided the script, mood boards, did the casting for the production, and took care of the postproduction. It was very convenient for us that they took care of all the things that we were not specialists in. We were able to maintain a high-level overview of the execution.

We worked with three people, but we had one main point of contact.

How did you come to work with Oversee?

They reached out to us. Their timing was perfect because we were in the process of looking for a partner. We had gotten recommendations for other production houses, but they happened to give us a call at the right time. Through a lot of different discussions and comparing ideas as well as cost, they were selected as the right fit for us.

We spent between $25,000 and $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them on this project from November 2019–February 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were able to execute the project. It was very important for us to be able to help our client who otherwise would have a lot of problems because it was a time-sensitive production. The key factor was their ability to deliver on time and meet the budget, and we achieved this.

How did Oversee perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very helpful throughout the project. They were flexible in terms of last-minute changes. We saw that they cared about the project and did everything that was necessary to make us happy and to also make our client happy. 

We didn’t use any sophisticated tools throughout the project because it wasn’t necessary from our perspective. Everything went according to the plan which was really important for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The cooperation was very good. I can’t think of anything that stood out because every step of the process was great. The whole cooperation with them was very good and our project manager solved problems for us rather than created problems for us.

No, there is nothing that comes to mind.

They visited my production office and we looked over their reel. We decided they would be a good fit based on their talent and their personalities.

On one project, I provided the scripting and voice over, and they created motion graphics and edited them to the voice over I provided. On another project, I provided them with a green screen talking head video, and they applied graphics and keyed out the green.

They sent me daily updates and revisions via we-transfer or basecamp. Easy to track performance.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

My client was ecstatic on both projects. They like the finished product and the time in which they were able to work. Fast.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We are starting to get a great flow now that we have worked on a few projects together. Some learning along the way, but they were excellent with everything, including communication, delivery as promised, talent, etc.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Overall, we had a great customer experience and customer service while delivering a high-quality product.
