Diabecarp is a platform where people with diabetes can educate themselves and have access to super useful tools through which they can improve their average blood glucose and thus have the best possible state of health. Our mission is to make diabetes no longer a problem. I am Matias Carpintini, Founder and CEO of Diabecarp, startup founded in February 2018. We currently have about 10 employees and we are raising a "Serie A".

Backend development of the main module of our web platform in RoR.

What were your goals for this project?

Get to give functionality to all our frontend part of said module. Which includes an algorithm for the recommendation of insulin doses, scrap documents and deliver an output such as glycosylated hemoglobin and personalized recommendations for a specific user.

How did you select this vendor?

FlyDevs was the recommendation of a mentor of our company. We had about 9 options from different agencies for the same project. We opted for FlyDevs for its commitment to our mission, empathy, flexibility and a long journey.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They developed all the backend for the frontend we had. They implemented various APIs, such as AWS and Stripe. Development of our own internal API for communication with another tool of our company and various connections to external organizations. And the most important part, an algorithm capable of recommending a dose of insulin to our users on certain occasions.

What was the team composition?

The composition of the team was the following, 1 project manager for a team of 3 devs in RoR responsible for developing said algorithm and another project manager responsible for a team of other 5 devs responsible for developing the rest of the backend.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The development of this project today represents 70% of what Diabecarp generates economically. Around 10K of active users per month achieved an average glycosylated hemoglobin of 5.8% thanks to the algorithm for the recommendation of insulin doses. We managed to make a lot of noise in the ecosystem and get enough traction to leave us in a super privileged position before our competition.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management was very impressive, especially compared to other agencies. They complied with the overwhelming majority of deadlines without problems. Our communication was exciting by GitHub, Slack and Jira.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Empathy with entrepreneurs and startups in an interesting growth. In general, agencies always seek to meet a deadline, deliver what the client asks for and that's it. In this case, we got a lot of feedback from our project and a very pleasant friendship with the whole team.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Maybe it would be interesting to have more brainstorming. I discovered this is a strong thing they have, it applies a lot of value to the customer. They are very creative and innovative. It is definitely something in which the rest is different from the whole and I see super attractive that they can exploit this ability more.

Pinny was made using Ionic 3, Firestore and Laravel for backend side. They used Mandrill, Mercado Pago and other integrations who help us to have a real product working in less than 5 months.

What was the team composition?

Flor was the Project Manager, Pablo the mobile lead developer and Leandro helped us to have the front end and backend side all ready in a short time. Also, Adrian & Leandro made the wireframes/prototype.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We get now a good amount of chefs and customers using the mobile apps now. By the moment we have more than 5k users! You can get the 2 mobile apps on the stores and on our website.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Super, I won't like using Trello but the team was always available on Whats App and by email! I usually work on the night and they were responsive!

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were quick to respond and had great brainstorming skills.
