One of the key measurable outcomes of the project is that our website won in the "Publishing and Media" category at the national Web Awards UA. This is a prestigious competition for websites and mobile applications in Ukraine, held since 2017.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm a project and program coordinator of KyivMusicFilm, the company behind the online cinema TYTR. KyivMusicFilm is a cultural project focusing on film distribution (theatrical, VOD, and TV) and organizing various national and international film festivals.

We also help businesses, NGOs, and other cultural institutions by organizing film screenings. That may include developing, programming, advising, and clearing the rights for film events. Our primary focuses are creative documentaries, event cinema, and films with a strong connection to music and culture.

For what projects/services did your company hire Element Agency, and what were your goals?

We had a needs to create our own niche video on demand (VOD) platform in Ukraine to extend our activities in the digital dimension. When we realized that all solutions available in Ukraine didn't go with our expectations, we started to look for the Web-developers with experience and understanding of VOD platform development. An Element Agency consulted us on pre-production steps and later was responsible for the entire cycle of platform creation.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We selected this vendor during a tender procedure; the main factors of selection were: a deep understanding of the specifics of VOD platform development, relative experience, great portfolio, excellent communication, and price.

We had pre-contractual calls when we described a scope of work; later, Element Agency presented an estimated cost. Finally, they presented various design reference examples, and we chose the main line of future design. After each week, till the end of the implementation of the project, we had a call or meeting with updates.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

A project manager was our main contact person, and also we had a meeting with the web-site designer and financial manager when it was necessary.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As it was a completely new project, all our metrics were new. For the first year, we got over 2 thousand registered users. The daily visiting of the platform is between 100 and 3000 users.

All the design references and each step of the design process were fixed in Figma; for tasks and project management, Notion was used. In addition, zoom, Telegram messenger, and e-mails were used for daily communication and quick updates.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They not only create the platform but also consult us on each step of development, and even after the end of the development process always helps us and support the platform.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We had a few bugs just after launching the platform and always found new, better solutions during the work — but the agency always fixes or implements them quickly.

When the COVID-19 pandemic started, we decided to set up online festivals.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Element Agency has developed a platform for online cinema and online film festivals. This is their first project in the field because they hadn’t worked with a film company before. They’ve done a lot of research and given us good examples of similar projects in other areas of Europe or the US.

What is the team composition?

We’re primarily in contact with the project manager, who is also a developer.

How did you come to work with Element Agency?

We found out about them through a government organization.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our partnership began in July 2020, and we’re still working with them.

We’ve used our user feedback to measure success. Clients are happy with the experience.
