I’m an executive at Fossil Group, a company that designs, manufactures, distributes, and markets fashion accessories and lifestyle products, focusing heavily on watches.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Doublle?

We needed to redesign and enhance our mobile app experience for our connected and hybrid smartwatches. We wanted to create a simpler, more intuitive, and engaging UX while establishing a scalable digital platform that could support new smartwatch technologies and the broader Fossil Group brand portfolio.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Doublle supported the design and development of our mobile app experience, focusing on improving the overall UX and creating a more intuitive digital interface for our connected-watch ecosystem. The team worked across UX/UI and interaction design, including information architecture, user flows, screen designs, navigation, and interaction patterns.

Doublle’s key deliverables included UX research and analysis of the existing app experience, user journeys, information architecture, wireframes, high-fidelity UI designs, interaction and visual design for key smartwatch-related features, a consistent and scalable UI/design system, prototypes, design specifications, and assets required for development and implementation.

Moreover, the team provided support during development, including design clarification, UI review, and functional/usability testing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We had several measurable outcomes that demonstrated the success of the redesign. For example, the redesigned onboarding experience reduced the number of screens required by 75%, making the sign-up and initial setup journey significantly more efficient.

Moreover, user testing helped us identify how customers preferred to configure notifications. Testing showed that 75% of users assigned contacts using positions 1–4 on the watch dial, which directly informed the redesigned notification experience.

Additionally, the redesigned app was successfully launched globally in October 2017, completing the project within an eight-month timeframe despite the complexity of the product and the multiple teams involved.

Furthermore, the new framework was designed to support 14 Fossil Group brands, allowing each brand to have its own branded experience while maintaining common functionality and usability. The creation of reusable and customizable design-system components provided a more scalable foundation and helped reduce future design and development time.

Overall, user testing and iterative prototyping helped us resolve complex onboarding, notification, and smartwatch-customization issues, resulting in a simpler and more intuitive overall experience.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website revamp helped us present our growing portfolio of payment products and solutions in a clearer and more structured way. We saw an estimated 10%–15% improvement in engagement across key product pages, along with better navigation and content discoverability. The new experience also created greater consistency across product, industry, and resource pages, making the website easier to scale as we expanded our offerings.In addition to the engagement improvements, the revamp received positive feedback from internal stakeholders around the website being more intuitive, visually consistent, and easier to navigate. The clearer organization of our products and solutions also made it easier for users to understand the offering and find relevant information.From an internal perspective, the new design system and reusable components also made it easier for teams to maintain the website and build new pages consistently, which was an important outcome of the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What stood out was their ability to deliver enterprise-grade design at nearly half the cost of traditional agencies, with an impressive 48-hour turnaround time, without compromising on quality.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Overall, we were very happy with the experience. Doublle was responsive, collaborative, and consistently delivered high-quality work with impressive speed and efficiency.
