BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I hired DOIT Software to help build my new idea - an Edtech tool called Galaxy, which I am the founder and CEO of.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire DOIT Software?

I hired DOIT Software to create a clickable prototype of the MVP, and then create a detailed cost breakdown. I primarily worked with a project manager, and a designer.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I found DOIT Software by chance on the internet - but was quickly impressed by their speed and professionalism in building a plan and a budget. They listened very well to the challenge and I felt a connection straight away - which made me put my trust in them. I'm very glad that I did.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

Galaxy is something completely new, a visual map of a user's key strengths, interests and achievements, and a goal-building tool that breaks big things down into smaller challenges.

The first stage was a discovery phase where Yuliya the designer conducted research and presented proposals. In actual fact, these were not to my liking as they were based on existing products. Yuliya then began working to my specifications, coming up with the first outlines of what I was truly looking for.

Over a few weeks of intense work, Yuliya and Anna created a prototype that exceeded my expectations. Not only was it creative and imaginative, but it was also clear, thorough, and well designed. My feedback was very quickly incorporated, or listened to and then resisted, along with a clear reason why - which ended up being for the best.

After a slightly scary start in the discovery phase, I grew to trust the team's judgement and respect their professionalism. After user testing, I came back to the team with an additional request - by that time they had learned the ropes of the idea, and were able to iterate very quickly.

The final part was getting a budget breakdown to actually program the prototype - which was highly detailed and broken up into useful stages.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

I worked with a core team of two - Anna the project manager and Yuliya the UX designer. A wider team of developers was consulted for the budget breakdown, and I had contact with Vitaly the CEO at the beginning and end of the project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

At present the project is not live, but the prototype has allowed me to attract a technical co-founder, as well as present the concept to a Member of the UK Parliament, several headmasters of schools, and potential investors. I have received compliments from all who have seen the project so far, and feel optimistic about its future chances of success.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Highly effective. I am speaking as a core employee of Uber, one of the most agile and process-oriented companies out there, and the team at DOIT software easily equaled my colleagues at Uber. Slack and Figma were used, which are the best and most fit-for-purpose software for what we needed - communication was mostly instantaneous with the team, deadlines clearly marked and delivery dates were met accurately and to a high standard.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They're a small, tight-knit team with high levels of competence and self-motivation, but also with a warmth and personal touch from the top down. Vitaly the CEO played a personal role to make sure I was satisfied - and even personally helped me to deliver gift boxes to the core team.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I couldn't have asked for a better prototype phase.
