OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Discover Digital?

Initially, one of our subsidiaries wanted to upgrade their website, so we hired Discover Digital to do the design work and handle the upgrade. All of our websites are run on Kentico CMS, so we later hired Discover Digital to provide support.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, Discover Digital upgraded one of our subsidiaries’ websites. We gave them detailed requirements of what we wanted from the build and created a project schedule. They provided status reports and updates on that project. Currently, Discover Digital provides us with Kentico CMS support and holds our license. We go through them for updates or upgrades for our websites.

They’re upgrading our site from version seven to 13 of Kentico CMS. We’re still in the discovery phase; we’ve had a meeting to tell them what we wanted, and they’ve told us the environments they need access to, which we’ve provided via VPN. The team has also offered a statement of work. We’re now working out a schedule and meeting cadence for the project. 

What is the team composition?

I work with Adam (Managing Director), Ifigenia (Director of Digital Transformation), and Paul (Digital Project Manager). We’ve also worked with some of their developers and graphic designers. 

How did you come to work with Discover Digital?

Although I wasn’t involved in the process, I believe someone in our company’s procurement department found them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $13,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The website upgrade project started in 2019, our current Kentico CMS upgrade project began in April 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

On the website upgrade project, the stakeholder was happy overall. Since implementation hasn’t started in the Kentico CMS project, we don’t have any metrics yet. 

How did Discover Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

The team delivers on time. Although there were delays on the website project, it was due to the stakeholder changing their mind, which resulted in several change requests. The stakeholder also took time to deliver feedback. Through this, Discover Digital was very professional and honored every request within the realm of what was possible. Even though the project also went over the budget, it was no fault of the team. 

As for communication, we have weekly meetings with them to go through the project status. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed by Discover Digital’s professionalism and responsiveness. Moreover, the team is easy to work with; for example, they gave us a couple of change requests during the website project and were open to having a discussion about items we disagreed with. We reviewed the requests, and they made amendments based on our discussions; I appreciated this because not all service providers are that amiable. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We have challenges regarding the Kentico CMS support services due to time constraints; we’re in Jamaica, and they’re in England. However, that’s not something they can change. Overall, I haven’t had a problem working with them. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be very clear from day one about the requirements.
