BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the owner and operator of a paving company, we provide services for consumer driveways as well as corporate entities.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Devluent, and what were your goals?

We needed a better way to manage resources, we source all of our product (asphalt) from companies around the world as well as concrete. We needed a better way to interact with these companies to better manage our resources.

This allowed us to never be out something and loss business. Larger companies now days like to autonomously communicate through use of APIs. Devluent provided us with a management system web application that was coupled with an API that allowed our external vendors to easily comminicate with us on resource needs.

SOLUTION

How did you select Devluent and what were the deciding factors?

This vendor has done some smaller work for other companies in the area and comes highly recommended. There prices were fair and they continue to work with us to this day on hosting and maintenance of this application.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

As I am not extremely tech savvy and everything I understand about the project apart from how it functions was explained to me by Devluent, the initial scope of the project was just an idea. We went to Devluent with a problem and they provided a solution.

The issue was properly managing resources for jobs and getting stock and shipments on time and when we need them. Devluent then proceeded to do discovery consulting with employees and external vendors to better understand our specific business needs and developed a solution that was then brough to me.

I approved the solution as it was in fact a perfect custom tailored solution.

How many people from the Devluent team worked with you, and what were their positions?

3 people from Devluent worked with me, 2 of which were the owners and one of which was a software engineer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The product devlivered works and solves our business issue. The processes was very hands off and allowed me to continue running my business and not have to worry about keeping the application running. They handled everything end to end.

The first year of the application running we saw a decrease in the amount of times we ran out of resources by roughly 80%. Which was huge for overall revenue.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

This is not really my line of expertise but documents where delivered in a professional manner, timelines and estimates were setup in Jira. They used Microsoft teams to communicate with us most of the time and even made a few special trips out to the physical location.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They've gone the extra mile and added a wow factor. Although it was not needed on multiple occasions they came out to my company physically to discuss my satisfaction with the product. That was something that really impressed me.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Everything was very hands off and impressive. This is my companies first big endeavor into software and it went about a smooth as it could have.
