My company makes handmade soaps and soy candles. I also resell organic teas and CBD products.

What challenge were you trying to address with Design Iconic?

I hired Design Iconic for website development services. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Design Iconic was responsible for developing my website. Initially, they were very friendly, but then things started being drawn out. The more hours that I paid them, the more they drew things out and wouldn’t complete things on time. It’s like they weren’t trying to let the site go live.

It’s gotten to the point where we’re four months out, and I’ve had to contact my bank to put in a dispute saying that the company has scammed me.

What is the team composition? 

There was someone who was supposed to be my project manager, another who claims that he’s the owner of the company, and a third person. As of yesterday, I received an email from a fourth person who says he’s a senior web development manager. 

How did you come to work with Design Iconic?

They initially contacted me via phone. I’m not sure how, but I believe that they saw that I’d created my previous website. I told them that I didn’t think they were legitimate. That’s when they showed me their Facebook, Skype, and Instagram profiles. They also told me to check out their website and registration with the Better Business Bureau. 

Now, I realize that there are some people who can have all of those things be still be out to take your money.

How much have you invested with them?

It was over $2,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in September 2020, and it’s still ongoing, now.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

When I eventually got my logos, they started to say that they could do this and that. Looking back on it, it seems like they were talking on the up and up, which was just a ploy to get more money out of me. I’m a very trusting person to the point where I can be naïve, and that’s how they preyed on my gullibility. 

How did Design Iconic address the challenges that arose?

Once I contacted my bank, two of the disputes went through for $500 and $299 respectively. A person claiming to be the owner called me saying that I needed to give them back their money. But why would I do that when they haven’t done anything for me. All I have to show for my money is a logo.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The only thing that they did well was creating a nice logo that represents my mom — that’s where my business started from. But, they’ve made this one of the worst experiences for me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They need to work on their communication, honor what they say they’re going to do, and do things in a timely manner.
