BACKGROUND

I was the associate director of advertising and creative services for Golden Corral, a buffet restaurant chain.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Design Cantina?

We needed help with external and point-of-purchase (POP) advertising design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Design Cantina helped us design content for display advertising and POP signage, and they also helped us design the look and feel of the campaigns we launched around our latest specials. Although our engagement was very design-oriented, they also supported us with our strategic messaging.

For every design project we had, I first reached out to Design Cantina and briefed them, explaining the special we wanted to advertise, the piece of communication we needed to launch, or the sign we needed to post on our stores. After I provided them with all of the relevant information, they designed the content pieces using the colors and the look and feel of our brand. Then, they sent me the files with their designs, which I then either sent to a printer to print or posted as part of our digital advertising.

What is the team composition?

I only worked with Cathy (Founder & Creative Director), but I knew she had a team working on the project behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with Design Cantina?

I found Cathy on Behance while looking for people with experience in restaurant POP design. I chose her because I really liked the work samples she had posted on Behance.

How much have you invested with them?

I spent around $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from August 2018–August 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were so happy with Design Cantina’s work that we continued using them for two years.

How did Design Cantina perform from a project management standpoint?

Design Cantina’s project management was excellent. We communicated via email and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Design Cantina had a lot of experience in digital strategy and restaurant advertising design; their work was great.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. I had a positive experience working with them.

Provide them with the information that they need and let them execute their work.
