Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Contractors.Direct, it’s an online tech platform that caters to interior design for commercial properties. Our business is relatively new. I spotted a gap in the market for creating an online platform for recommended, trusted, and approved contractors.

What challenge were you trying to address with CreativeZone Tax & Accounting?

We brought them on for their auditing services.

What was the scope of their involvement?

CreativeZone Tax & Accounting audited our accounts for 2018 and 2019. There’s also a mentorship and educational side to our partnership.

When the UAE introduced the value-added tax (VAT), it caused all sorts of havoc. The mandate and information weren’t clear about how to record and declare VAT. CreativeZone Tax & Accounting came into our office and sat with our accountant.

They helped them understand, from a bookkeeping perspective, how to record all of our future revenue, what could be offset, and ultimately place all the information. This was so that at the end of the year, when we hand our books over for the audit, everything would be in check and we’d end up paying less.

Originally, we engaged with CreativeZone Tax & Accounting because of cost. They had a promotion so we switched to them from our previous accountant, and we just stayed with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested about $3,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing engagement started in February 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

All the frontend work and time they invested in spending with our in-house accountant really made a difference for us. Finally, our accountant was able to sit with somebody that knew what they were talking about. We started recording things in a way that they wanted to receive them, which made the annual auditing super easy. They helped set everything up, and then everything runs like clockwork now.

How did CreativeZone Tax & Accounting perform from a project management standpoint?

They communicate effectively and are well-organized.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I like that they’re a small business. They’re very approachable, moldable, and forgiving; if meeting time runs over in an incremental increase, they don’t even charge. And frankly, they’re just cool individuals.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there isn’t anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Get multiple quotes and speak to multiple companies so then you have the option to go elsewhere and know the reasons why you’re appointing your new accountant. Get other quotes so you can help substantiate the quality you’re getting from CreativeZone Tax & Accounting.
