Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

Programming an interface between a UHF RFID reader and cloud-based backend software. The interface to the cloud is based on OPC UA. Communication with the RFID reader is based on TCP/IP. The goal was to implement a wireless sensor network solution. Battery-free sensor transponders transmit sensor values to the backend via the RFID reader. In between is the gateway, which organizes and processes the entire data flow. The overall configuration and teach-in of the sensor transponders can be carried out via a web interface hosted on the embedded, industrial Linux gateway device.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Cookielab developed and delivered an excellent software solution within the specified time frame. The end customer, an international corporation, was very satisfied with the overall project, which encompassed more than “just” this software.

The entire project was implemented very professionally. Communication and delivery of the software were always prompt and within the expected and agreed timeframe.

CookieLab take over existing code base in React Native of multiplatform application for the Web, Android and iOS. They stabilized development, implemented great ammount of new features and improved testing. They designed are actively developing new generation of native apps for apple based systems and for the web.

They created apps for new platforms allowing us to give customers new ways of using our system and allowing us to move to new markets. We appreciate their techincal and user oriented expertise to discuss our APIs and UX design to improve them.

CookieLab delivers all at specified pace and according to roadmap. They discuss potential problems early so we can accomodate to them. They are active in finding solutions and trying different approaches, and they respond quickly to immediate problems needing quick solution.

I personaly like their style of project management and client/user oriented approach which I try to apply in other parts of software development not related to CookieLab. We coordinated our work through Slack channels - we project manager and dev team. We started with iOS development and release and then we took advantage of the experience/feedback to bring Android dev team.

We used Slack and Trello for majority of Project Management and  Planning.

What we appreciate Cookielab's culture of doing things the right way, so the product works without compromise, while also finding economical paths (sometimes even experimental) that can save on the project. We feel they are an extended part of European Coffee Trip and we are on the same mission when it comes to the final product for our users.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Cookielab.io could have done differently?

Since Cookielab is focusing on complex projects and mobile development is just a part of it, having a limited number of mobile app developers was a burden a few times for our project.

The supplier consistently demonstrated excellent project management skills throughout our collaboration. They were always well-prepared for meetings, arriving with thorough analyses, concrete proposals, and multiple solution options for each issue—often accompanied by clear recommendations.

They allocated sufficient time for discussions, actively listened to our needs, and responded to our requests promptly and constructively. Each time a solution was found, or, when appropriate, they offered a well-reasoned and respectful explanation for why a particular matter might not be pursued.

All meetings were held as scheduled, and all deliverables were provided as promised. In the rare event that a delay was foreseen, we were informed well in advance. Their approach is highly professional and reflects the standards expected of a internation-level organization.

As an industry leader, we are continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible, including expanding our range of smart, connected juvenile products.

What challenge were you trying to address with Cookielab.io?

Many parents attach aftermarket accessories to their child's car seat to calm and entertain them while on the go. These accessories can become projectiles in the event of a car crash, making an already dangerous situation even worse. Additionally these products lack the flexibility to seamlessly activate as needed. Our goal was to develop a connected infant car seat with integrated soothing technology that is not only safer, but also more convenient than the existing options.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Cookielab.io was tasked with bringing the entire SensorySoothe user experience to life, from designing the UI to developing and implementing the code base. They also had to integrate this new experience seamlessly with our existing SensorSafe technology—another solution Cookielab.io helped develop and refine over the past decade.

Cookielab.io’s project management was exceptional. They prioritized key features for launch and followed up quickly with less critical features. As the project evolved and we realized its potential, Cookielab.io adapted to the changing scope. Throughout the process, they released test versions of the app with newly developed features, allowing us to easily monitor progress. They even facilitated a beta test with prospective users during development.

Key features integrated by Cookielab.io included automatic Bluetooth connection to the seat when the vehicle is in motion, as well as a series of voice commands for hands-free activation from the driver’s seat—an essential safety improvement over existing solutions.

Cookielab.io demonstrated a strong understanding of the UI and UX that would resonate with our target audience: busy parents. Designing an engaging app for this user base was no easy task, but Cookielab.io delivered an experience that truly met their needs.

SensorySoothe has been a tremendous success, earning numerous industry innovation awards and driving growth in the company. We’ve seen new users onboarding to the mobile app at record pace, significantly surpassing our baseline conversion rate of car seats purchased to new app users. Additionally, app usage has increased, with users spending more time in the app and actively creating their own custom SensorySoothe scenes
