Cognify exists because UK operational businesses deserve AI that works, not AI that's talked about.

Our founder spent 16+ years in marine engineering and built his own engineering firm before launching Cognify. Every engagement is fixed-scope with clear deliverables. Process automation ships in 2 weeks. AI integration in 4 to 6. No multi-month discovery phases or rolling retainers without a working deliverable. You see working software at the end, on the date named upfront.

If a problem doesn't need AI, we say so. Often the right answer is a workflow automation, a cleaner data pipeline, or a better-shaped process. We don't sell AI to look modern. We sell measurable outcomes, and only use AI when it's genuinely the right tool.

Projects fall into three sizes. Quick Wins start around £2,500 and address a specific pain point that pays back within weeks. Standard projects run £7,500 to £15,000 and cover a fully built workflow or AI integration with knowledge transfer to your team. Transformation projects sit at £20,000 to £40,000 and rewire a multi-step operational process across several teams or systems. We also offer ongoing support retainers from £500 per month for clients who want production AI monitored, maintained, and evolved after launch. Every engagement is fixed-scope with the price agreed before work starts. We don't bill by the hour.

It depends on the scope. A Quick Win (one workflow, one pain point) ships in 2 to 3 weeks from kickoff. A Standard project (a fully integrated AI or automation deployment with team training) ships in 4 to 6 weeks. A Transformation project (multi-process, multi-team) typically runs 6 to 10 weeks. We name the delivery date upfront in the proposal, and the work is structured in weekly checkpoints so you see progress as it lands rather than discovering it all at the end. We don't do open-ended consulting timelines. If a piece of work is genuinely so unknown that it can't be scoped, we run a paid discovery phase first, then re-scope the build with a real deadline.

No. Most of our clients have an operations leader, a finance lead, or an owner-manager driving the engagement, not a CTO or IT director. We do the technical work. What we need from your side is a clear view of the business problem, access to the right people for short interviews and process mapping, and someone empowered to make decisions about scope and sign-off. Once the system is built, we run training sessions with the team who'll use it day-to-day and leave documentation behind. By the end of the project your team owns and operates the system; you don't need new technical hires to run it. If you do have technical staff and want them involved in the build, we welcome that too. Co-implementation often produces the strongest outcomes because the system gets adopted faster.

No. Knowledge transfer is built into every engagement. We leave documentation, runbooks, training videos, and a clear handover so your team can operate the system without us. You own the code, the configurations, the data, and the integrations, not Cognify. If you want ongoing support we offer optional monthly retainers from £500 covering monitoring, maintenance, and evolution. But the retainer is genuinely optional. Clients can take the system in-house and never speak to us again, or bring us back for new projects when the next bottleneck appears. We make money from new work and continuity by choice, not from clients who can't operate without us. This is a deliberate position. Too much of the AI consulting market is built on dependency, and we think the alternative is more valuable to a serious operator.

We tell you. About a third of the time, a problem that looks like it needs AI actually needs better process design, cleaner data, a simpler automation, or a hard look at why a workflow exists at all. We'll do that diagnosis honestly in the discovery call and recommend the right intervention even if it's smaller than what you originally imagined. If automation or data work is the right answer, we can deliver that too, it's part of our four core service lines alongside AI. If the right answer is to fix the underlying process or system architecture and AI isn't relevant yet, we'll tell you, recommend who can help, and reconnect when AI does fit. Telling clients no is part of the brand. We'd rather build long credibility than win every deal.
