I am the CEO and co-owner of the company. Bitcoin Store is the biggest crypto brokerage in Croatia.

For what projects/services did your company hire CodeMage, and what were your goals?

CodeMage develops and maintains every part of the system, which includes desktop and mobile apps for purchase and sale of cryptocurrencies, as well as APIs, backoffices, background services and many other systems that deal with transactions.The main site has a distinguished focus on SEO and user education, where a lot of thought and work has been put into exploring and understanding the market and users. Today we have a platform that is ready for multinational expansion, and which receives numerous feature updates every month.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

One of our previous partners recommended CodeMage since he worked with them before. We were in search of someone who will be able to help us keep track of the wild crypto world and also keep good communication.

We had a kickoff meeting where we described the current state of the platform. We defined the first few tasks to see if we would be a good match. After the first few tasks went well, we decided on full blown cooperation. After that we just told CodeMage what we needed and they would make wireframes to present us next steps without development, and after we approve those wireframes they would start development. Technologies used are:

Total of 7 people worked, and are still working with us. There is one person that is lead developer for the whole Bitcoin Store, and also doing the role of project manager. He is taking care of our whole development segment (10+ people, which includes external developers, QA). Other than him 4 full stack developers, QA and designer worked full time for use.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our 2 main goals were to make a robust platform that has good UI/UX and reach good SEO positions. We created a completely new Site (using Next.js) . We can see an increase in our overall google positions. On the other side our platform was performing well during the highest load in the bull run, and since we started working with CodeMage number of users on our platform increased by more than 2000%.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

During the last few years we tried different methods of syncing, but we find that it is best for both of us to have one weekly sync with CodeMage project managers. They are updating me over the slack on a regular basis if there is some issue going on. If I cannot find the status of some task on JIRA I can ask them about the current status of that task. We used Trello in the beginning, but as our cooperation got bigger and better we switched to Jira where we can follow tasks in more detail.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

For us the most important thing is that they are not only working for us, but they are working with us. They never do a job just to do it, they always starve for excellence.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We needed some time to find the best way for communication in the start, but over time we managed to find something that fits both of us.
