Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the product owner of an online store. Our website and content management system were created over 10 years ago. No frameworks were used to create our software. A lot of functionality has been written in a suboptimal way, and with the large increase in the number of customers and thus the complexity of the system, our store has become difficult to develop and maintain.

For what projects/services did your company hire Codema, and what were your goals?

We hired Codema for maintenance of the current system, and to write new modules e.g. financial module for accounting and analytical purposes.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We had very specific needs that Codema could meet. We found our vendor through an online research. We also met both online and live in the office. The decisive factors were technological adaptation (the possibility of code development in outdated technology) and relatively low cost of work.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We started the project with a kick-off in which we set our goals and priorities. Then our software was analyzed and tested. For the first few months, they developed new functionalities for our internal users, fixed bugs and made minor optimizations of the system's operation. In order to limit the increase in technological debt, after consulting a senior from Codema we decided to build a new module as a microservice, instead of building it in a monolith with the current system. Currently, the financial module is being developed, in which it will be possible to generate reports for accounting and analytical purposes. Frontend development for this module is finalized and written in React. Backend development and microservices architecture preparation is ongoing.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Throughout the project we worked with up to 2 manual testers, 3 to 4 mid backend developers. For some tasks, Codema also provided us with the services of a DevOps specialist. Senior backend developer and frontend developer joined the team for a short period of time. The team was led by project manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

It is hard to measure outcomes as the project is ongoing.

We had daily meetings. We used discord and Jira to cooperate. Project meetings in which Codema's specialists cooperated with our financial module expert.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Codema was very flexible in its work and provided us with new resources whenever we needed. They had no problem in communication with our other providers such as external DevOps team or our internal workers. I find Codema's developer specialists highly competent.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Many times in the project the testing was the bottleneck and there could be a room for improvement. At the beginning of the project, there was a lack of a broader perspective and introduction to us of bigger alternatives, which happened after the senior developer joined the team.

I'm the product manager and owner at Easysend, a fintech platform that facilitates monetary transactions and currency exchange.

I needed someone to develop my app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Codema designed and developed my platform for Android, iOS, and the web. They were responsible for the entire UI/UX design. 

The app is still in active development. It has a backend portal and a client-facing portal. Currently, the Codema team provides testing services. They're building another solution for us, as well.

What is the team composition?

We're working with 10 people from Codema, including developers, testers, and a manager. The manager is my main point of contact, but I speak to the developers on occasion.

How did you come to work with Codema?

We read some great reviews about them online. We reached out for a few discussions and eventually signed a contract. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spend around $50,000 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Codema in July 2021, and it's ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We're thrilled with the collaboration — Codema is a professional team that produces high-quality work. We've had a few bugs, but they’ve fixed all of them. Overall, we've gotten high ratings from users. 

How did Codema perform from a project management standpoint?

They have good processes in place. We work together using the Scrum methodology. I use Jira to assign tasks with varying priority levels, and Codema works hard to deliver on time.

Our project manager is also professional. Our primary communication tool is Discord, but we also interface through phone calls and Jira.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The Codema team is highly professional and fixes bugs quickly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything they could do better — Codema has done an excellent job so far.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I suggest giving them a try. Codema is a team of amazing people.

I’m the VP and co-owner of Medi.com. We’re a software vendor servicing the medical field, including doctors and hospitals.

What challenge were you trying to address with Codema?

We needed to develop an online scheduler.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Codema has worked on front and backend development and UI design to create an online scheduler. It’s web-based, but it also works with iOS and Android mobile devices. Doctors and patients can use it to schedule appointments and do online visits or video calls. Also, Google calendar is integrated into the app.

The software is on our server and can be integrated with our customers’ websites. Additionally, we can provide a site for them and incorporate it as well.

For development, Codema has used PHP Laravel. They’ve also made an API to integrate any software and an instruction guide for installation. They also manage our servers.

What is the team composition?

We work with 5–6 people, including a project manager, programmers, and designers. The project is our main point of contact, but I also interact with the owners.

How did you come to work with Codema?

They responded to our ad. We considered 3–4 companies but found this team to have the best qualifications at a reasonable price.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $17,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together around September 2020, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The scheduler is beautiful, and doctors have expressed their satisfaction with it. Overall, we’ve had positive feedback, and they quickly correct any bugs or issues that we encounter.

How did Codema perform from a project management standpoint?

It was difficult in the beginning. We had to learn how to collaborate and communicate. However, they meet deadlines and are responsive and quick to act. We use Jira for project management and Skype for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re eager to learn and increase their experience. Their team responds quickly when we reach out, and it’s easy to discuss different levels of the project with them. Codema is humble and transparent, and they refer the right person if they don’t know an answer.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re a young team that needs more experience.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be prepared and know what you want; they ask a lot of questions.

For what projects/services did your company hire Codema, and what were your goals?

Codema was responsible for creating the investment platform from scratch. Their task was to implement the settlement algorithms and the buying and selling process. The aim was to allow the customer to complete the transaction in conjunction with fast online payments.

SOLUTION

How did you select Codema and what were the deciding factors?

We worked with Codema on previous projects. Bearing in mind the fact that we were satisfied with the cooperation so far, we decided to continue it.

Development and implementation of the graphic design of the portal, Development and implementation of a scheme for adding receivables to the platform, Development and implementation of the scheme and algorithm for calculating the price and profit achieved by the investor, and development and implementation of a debt purchase scheme by an investor using the fast online payment method.

Also, Development and implementation of a panel for external partners along with the implementation of algorithms for calculating sales commissions

How many people from the Codema team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Three people were responsible for the project. Each of them had a separate function. While one of the people was responsible for creating the website, two others were responsible for programming the website

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The website works very well. The solutions proposed by Codem proved to be successful. The implemented algorithms are the basis of the website's functioning to this day. In addition, we constantly receive support from Codem with minor changes in the functioning of the website.

The implementation of the project was constantly consulted. The contact in this regard was very good. Each stage of implementing new solutions

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Codema has shown a fantastic approach to the subject. Their experience and knowledge turned out to be crucial. I was impressed by their flexibility in terms of deadlines and implemented solutions. Constant consultations led us efficiently through the entire process of creating the website.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Bearing in mind their commitment and knowledge, we would not change anything in the functioning of the website

I’m the owner of the company that imports and sells chemicals, and we’re hiring 50 people.

What challenge were you trying to address with Codema?

We wanted a website that would look basic on the frontend. Then, on the backend, we wanted a warehouse organization that would supply and automates how we would buy products from our suppliers. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team began with listing questions of what they could do, what we used to have, and what we wanted from them. They also listed the items which we agreed on. They then supplied me with the visual elements on the frontend with our third–party clients in mind within 1–2 months. 

After that, they started focusing on the coding and finishing our website. Codema helped customized what we had on the backend site since a normal CMS didn’t have any of the functions that I had wanted. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with six people from Codema including their two owners. We also collaborated with Codema’s project leader and graphic designer. 

How did you come to work with Codema?

Codema was referred by some of my colleagues. I worked with programmers before, and I thought that they were the best. I had a meeting with one of the owners of Codema, and our conversation went well. He was very polite, and I respected him. During our meeting, we agreed on what I wanted.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent approximately $20,000–$35,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement ran from June–October 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The website was selling well, and we didn’t have any bugs. I gave them this project, and they were really great. Now, they’re working on much bigger projects with us right now.

How did Codema perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated through Discord and Atlassian. Overall, our communication was very good. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had their priorities straight, and they were flexible. Once they started developing our site, they quickly finished. Furthermore, whenever I wanted to add or remove something, they were always available. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They did exactly what I wanted, so maybe this was not a question for me. However, they could be cheaper. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Try to call Codema, and do a test project with them to test their technical skills.

What were your goals for this project?

The launch of an intuitive mobile application solution on the European market that helps the catering industry in delivering food to their customers.

SOLUTION

How did you select Codema?

We were looking for a company that would help us apply non-standard solutions with subsequent technical support. We contacted various companies in Poland, but this company devoted more time to us and their involvement in the project was very satisfactory in terms of the pricing.

After choosing CODEMA, we had several meetings at the company's headquarters, during which CODEMA presented its initial solutions in the conference room, placing them in the projector

At the beginning, we were assigned a Project Manager, then Graphics, and after our visual approval of the SmakKurier Project, we were assigned to two Mobile Application Programmers and additionally we created a Group in the Discord Team with 6 people, where we have constant contact with CODEMA and we could follow the course of work on the Project

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I will present you the YouTube Admin Panel.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The owner of the CODEMA company constantly watches over the Team and the Project. We had contact by phone, e-mail and in the Discord Application. We had a daily answer to our questions and a weekly report.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their knowledge and patience with the client is great. And my inquisitive questions were richly translated.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Man would always like to get an advanced design right after a week or two... ;-) Effective and intuitive solutions in the Mobile Application are what counts - time is always important, but not the most important

I’m the director and owner of a website development company. We’re a two-person team. We make websites, find web hosts, and work with the client to find the best solution. I started the company in June 2020.

What challenge were you trying to address with Codema?

We were developing a live streaming website for a client. I have a 50% share in that business as well.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Codema designed and developed the website. They bought and customized an AngularJS frontend script, and the backend is Laravel framework.

What is the team composition?

There were 4–5 people from Codema working on the site.

How did you come to work with Codema?

 I chose them because of their prices. Livestreaming websites are typically expensive to build. I posted a job for $25,000 on a freelancing site. We got a lot of proposals, but Codema was the only company that gained my trust. Their owner explained from the start how they were going to build the site.

How much have you invested with them?

The project cost was $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project ran between late September 2020–February 2021. We finished the first contract, but we’ve decided to make some upgrades to the site, so the collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve decided to make some upgrades before launching the site, in order to provide the best possible version. We’ve had some problems with the livestreaming. It would freeze when there were more than 20 people on the platform, and the resolution would drop. I was informed in the beginning that it could prove to be a problem, but I decided to give it a try.

We found another company, which Codema is working with now to improve the livestreaming. Everything else worked the way Codema said it would, but it turned out that the script they bought wasn’t the best quality. They had to work overtime to fix it.

We haven’t advertised the site, but everyone I’ve shown it to said that it looks really good and modern.

How did Codema perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate through a messenger.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their pricing stood out to me. Other companies wanted $100,000 to do the site, which was too much for me at the time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really, especially given the price. They’re really good programmers. We have had some problems during the project, but they always found a solution.

I’ve worked with developers that wouldn’t make time for me, but Codema’s owner has always answered my questions quickly. It's a really good company.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

They always do the work, even if it gets really difficult. Building a livestreaming platform was really difficult, but they managed. If someone wants to work with Codema and has a difficult project, they’ll manage for sure. If they lack knowledge on a topic, they’ll learn quickly.
