We work with IT managers and senior managers at organisations of 50 people or more whose systems have become costly or worrying to run: a supplier who has gone, a developer who has left, software going out of support, or a system nobody fully understands.

How we work:
• We secure the source code, accounts and backups, and put them in your name.
• We prove we can build and release the system before we promise to change it.
• We fix what hurts most first, including anything out of support.
• We support and modernise the system in stages under a monthly arrangement, so the business keeps working throughout.

Our Story

Graham Church founded CodeFirst in 2012 after eighteen years as a developer on systems for Pfizer, Sony Ericsson, Prudential and ABB. We specialise in the software organisations depend on but no longer fully understand. We take systems over from previous suppliers, make them safe to change and modernise them in stages. Our longest-running system, OpenIRIS, has been in continuous service since 2014.

Most of the software we support was written by another supplier, an in-house team or a developer who has since moved on. We secure the source code, accounts and backups and put them in your name. The previous supplier does not need to cooperate, although it helps.

We prove it before we promise

Before we commit to fixing or changing a system, we build it from source and release one small, safe change. Until that works, nobody can honestly promise anything. You see the evidence first, then decide.

We reply to every enquiry within one working day. Timescales for work are agreed in writing before it starts, after we have looked at whatever could change them.
