Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the chief marketing officer (CMO) of ngena, a network platform development company. We deploy SD-WAN secure network solutions to over 100 partners worldwide, including Cisco.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Clay Digital?

We needed someone to provide us with an optimized web experience, and develop interfaces and portals to enable seamless interactions with our partners.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired Clay Digital for their UI/UX design and development services. They’re not only focused on providing us with a website for marketing, but we’re also utilizing them for our development efforts through dotConnect — a portal with four major phases; selection, enhancement, deployment, and operation.

We’ve essentially accomplished all these phases, but we’re still working with them to further develop and improve on the UI/UX. They mainly use Figma, Miro, InVision, and Adobe as their primary development and design tools. 

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact is the project manager, but we also interface with the CEO on some occasions.

How did you come to work with Clay Digital?

One of our team members came up with a list of the best-ranking UI/UX development firms. I then narrowed the list down to three vendors and after impressing our CEO with their innovative mindset, we decided to go with Clay Digital.

We really liked their approach and how they were able to visualize the work they were going to do for us.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve invested close to $700,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing partnership started in October 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re looking to launch our product in January, but the feedback from our partners has been overwhelmingly positive. Clay Digital is very receptive to issues, gets along well with our engineers, and understands what is needed from them so they work diligently to deliver an exceptional product.

How did Clay Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Clay Digital has been very respectful to our timeframes and they present a clear vision for the project’s evolution. We typically communicate through Microsoft Teams for weekly meetings and progress presentations.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What distinguishes them from other providers is the quality of their process and their understanding of complex requirements. Additionally, their integration into our team was crucial, so we’re quite impressed with the smooth collaboration.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Since I’m more of a visual person, I would want them to provide me with more visual options for the look and feel of the product. However, I can’t complain about what they’ve shown us so far because they always produce high-quality deliverables.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The best advice I could give is to be very clear with your goals from the beginning, so you don’t experience any surprises down the road. Our partnership works well because we had a very clear understanding of what we wanted and if you’re vague about our requirements, you’re going to end up wasting time and resources.
