Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a data scientist at EnPowered, a startup in the energy space with roughly 25 employees. We provide energy solutions for industrial and commercial energy management customers.

What challenge were you trying to address with CakeAI?

We needed consulting and help with setting up data science activities for the data science team we were setting up.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

As the engagement progressed, the deliverables were outlined as requirements were laid out. They helped us with a data warehouse design and a data dictionary template. They also reviewed specs for us.

The data warehouse helps us understand what different data sources should be and how to process and utilize the data. It helps to manage the inflow and outflow of data effectively. The dictionary template helps track different data sources for various functions of the organization.

What is the team composition?

We worked directly with Andrew (Advisor).

How did you come to work with CakeAI?

We found Andrew, who is a respected figure that advises startups like ours.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from May–December 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

CakeAI understood our requirements well. They did a good job coaching us on approaching the problem and getting others on board with the deliverables.

The engagement helped us identify problems going forward and the consequences if those problems weren’t solved.

How did CakeAI perform from a project management standpoint?

We had bi-weekly meetings using Google Meet for video conference calls. We also communicated via email and phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Due to their expertise in solving problems through their work with other companies, they solved our specific problem.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There wasn’t a lot of visibility to other members of the team, but that wasn’t a hindrance to the project.

I am the current CEO of a company that focuses on IT and technical recruiting for mid to large size companies.

For what projects/services did your company hire CakeAI?

We hired CakeAI to help advise us on building an analytics practice, they helped us figure out an analytics strategy, hire the right talent and build the data infrastructure to move forward in our business.

The reason was to help optimize our product development for our app and provide industry level reports on the IT industry as it relates to recruiting.

What were your goals for this project?

To build Thought leadership and industry reporting Develop our app We knew we need a strategy and hardware to do this, and CakeAI did all that.

SOLUTION

How did you select CakeAI?

We used referrals and internet searches. Their team seemed the most knowledgeable, prepared and the only ones who could provide an end to end solution.

Describe the project in detail.

The team came in and reviewed technical documents and conducted interviews. They really understood all the elements of our business. They first developed an overall strategy for analytics and then let development of the platform and analytic insights. Then they helped us hire and train those folks to take over.

What was the team composition?

Mostly technical people and leadership people. No sales. Really liked that. Never felt pushed or sold.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Amazing team, in 3-4 months we went from “we need analytics” and no idea how to get there to a fully developed environment with a team and strategy. We have signficantly improved our product development speed (3X) and gained amazing insights on our customer thanks to the team and their work.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very good, strong communication, highly collaborative.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Extremely smart and hardworking team; what I liked best was their positive attitude, flexibility, and collaboration. We felt like we were in good hands from the start. They’re real experts.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not off the top of my head.
