Bottom Line Bookkeeping & Tax dates back to 2006, when Bill Brough started doing income tax preparation after years of being self-employed and running not one but two successful businesses: Laser Technologies, one of the first laser printer service, repair and toner cartridge recycling firms in the country; and Content Development Group, providing research and website development on a contract basis to the U.S. Department of Labor. Meanwhile, Superior Accounting was launched by Ben Fellmeth after graduation from college with an accounting degree. Ben started and ran several small enterprises while a student, including contracting to make alarm sales and an auto detailing business. Bill and Ben were introduced to each other in 2013 through a business associate they had in common. They immediately felt a mutual respect due to their love of good, old-fashioned entrepreneurship, and especially their shared passion for outstanding customer service. Bill was looking for someone to help with the bookkeeping load as his tax practice took off, and Ben was likewise interested in expanding into tax preparation but wanted to remain focused on hands-on accounting. Each filled the other’s need, and they formed a strategic partnership that same year.
