BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of product management for an e-commerce software company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with BORN?

We needed to make integrations for our product into Shopify, BigCommerce, and Magento.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

BORN has helped us build three web apps to facilitate the three different integrations we needed. We had an initial idea of how we needed the integration to be done, and we wanted it to be easily accessible for users who needed them for those three platforms. Thus, we first had a discovery phase with BORN to discuss our use cases and challenges.

We had a very collaborative discussion, where they showed their experience working with Shopify, BigCommerce, and Magento. During this phase, they helped us understand how our goals would be delivered within each of those platforms.

After the discovery phase, we moved into a quick UI/UX design process, after which BORN jumped right into the development phase. The majority of the project was development-oriented. It took them three months to complete the apps, and they’ve been doing enhancements since.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with around 10 different people from BORN’s team. Their team included a product manager, one full-stack developer for each platform, and a QA person during the development process.

How did you come to work with BORN?

BORN was an existing partner of ours. Oftentimes, clients who purchase our product use their services to build integrations. Thus, it was a natural fit to work with them for this project.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together on this project in January 2021. Although they’ve already finished the apps, our partnership is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

BORN’s work has been great. I’m very satisfied with the products, and they’ve met my expectations.

How did BORN perform from a project management standpoint?

BORN did a great job managing the project, and their product manager kept us informed throughout the process. We’ve used Confluence and Jira to manage the project, and we communicate via Slack and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BORN’s understanding of the e-commerce platforms we’re working with is impressive — that was why we went with them. This quality has made them a great partner for us because they’ve been able to provide great solutions and suggestions.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t have any constructive feedback.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t try to specify too much and let them bring their expertise to the table.
