I’m the assistant VP of enterprise applications at a university.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Boomi?

We wanted to create a more improved way of developing integrations to both cloud and non-cloud applications.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started from a POC perspective with a specific product called Boomi Integrate. It’s their integration tool that’s cloud-based. It allows companies to integrate their logo our cloud data to other data providers. 

For example, we wanted to have integrations with Salesforce and Oracle. We wanted a product to integrate those applications easily and be able to create both APIs or file-based integrations, which Boomi provided. 

After delivering a POC, we went through the process of getting proposals. After we signed a specific contact form, we went in and did a full training with them so that we could train using the tool. Finally, we were able to build additional use cases by ourselves. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with an account manager, a success manager, and three other people that covered training and product consulting. 

How did you come to work with Boomi?

We looked at a couple of cloud integration tools. We looked at other applications, but we found Boomi to be flexible and affordable. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spend $60,000 per year. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2019, and our work is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our metric for success is how long it used to take us to build integrations. We’ve gone from months to basically weeks in that department. 

How did Boomi perform from a project management standpoint?

Boomi is great. We have pre-set meetings with them every two weeks or so, so they touch base. They’re very on top of things and provide a lot of feedback as to how other universities are using the product as well. They always listen to our requests. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re not pushy about upselling. They’re always trying to help us accomplish our goals. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’ve gone through some turnover after an acquisition. That being said, the team has never stopped communicating. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to do your homework and see what they provide. Ask every question you can from a technical and functional perspective. Be part of the process of reviewing all of the use cases and functionality that Boomi offers.
