BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner and president of a janitorial government contract cleaning and COVID-19 disinfection company. We also provide repair services for commercial janitorial equipment.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Blade Marketing and Design?

We had an old website for the repair service portion of our business, and we wanted to update it. Additionally, we didn’t have a site for the janitorial disinfection services, so we needed a new website in order to get more exposure in that aspect.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Mainly, they redesigned the website that we already had and created the second one we needed from scratch. They offered other services like posters and cards, but we didn’t need that at the time. We explained to them our needs for the two aspects of our business. We told them that our main market is government contracting, so we stated that some of their services wouldn’t apply to what we were looking for, such as the social media efforts they offer. After that, we had calls with their staff where they asked us questions about our business in order to work on the verbiage of the site. On that call, we went through what we do, our standards, and our values and beliefs.

For the website that we already had up, I told them the things I was looking to change, and then they gave their inputs and suggestions. For the new website, we explained what we did and what our market was. After that, they sent us examples of websites that they developed in the past so we could get an idea of the type of work they did. Based on those examples, they created a couple of ideas and guided me through them.

How did you come to work with Blade Marketing and Design?

I worked with Chris on a government project before the COVID-19 shut down, so that’s how I had his name and phone number. In one of the meetings for that project, he mentioned that he created websites, flyers, and that kind of content. I kept that in the back of my mind, and when I started looking for local website developers in Hawaii, I remembered Chris provided those services. After that, I contacted him and found out that he was still doing website design, so we started the engagement.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent a little under $600 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked for 7–8 weeks through February–March 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We measure the effectiveness of the project with monthly reports that Blade Marketing and Design sends regarding how many people have viewed the website, how many people like it, and how many emails and questions we receive. We also take into consideration the opinion of our team members in terms of the website looking professional and meeting our needs.

How did Blade Marketing and Design perform from a project management standpoint?

It was amazing — we were always up to date on what they were doing. We kept in contact with emails and phone calls. Everyone was very professional, timely, and very clear upfront in terms of telling us what we can expect within a certain timeline. We met virtually each Monday of every week until we finished the project. In those meetings, we reviewed the progress made, discussed changes, and feedback on our end to make sure we were satisfied. Additionally, I’m not tech-savvy at all, and they were great at breaking things down so I could understand. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed with how professional they were and how simple they kept everything. I didn’t know the terms about websites, but they kept everything very easy to understand. They stayed on track with their time — they made an 8–10 week projection that they completed in under eight weeks. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They exceeded our expectations, so I don’t think there’s something they can improve on.

Any advice for potential customers?

I’d recommend them to agree to the regular follow-up. If they respond quickly to emails and phone calls, they’ll be able to keep their project on track.
