Please describe your company and your position there.

I am an IT director of the transport and logistics company. We focus on freight shipping throughout the United States.

For what projects/services did your company hire BlackSeed?

We had only limited understanding of a transport brokerage platform and we did not know exactly how to implement it. Before our partnership, we made a number of mistakes with other developers.

BlackSeed was initially hired to write a product backlog and develop a prototype. The team presented the prototype and advised on technical aspects addressing potential issues.

We were satisfied with the work had done and decided to order a full-fledged web application development and a mobile version for the next phase.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to implement a transportation brokerage web platform based on our experience in the logistics industry.

How did you select this vendor?

We were looking for a development team with good reviews among our partners. Several teams were selected and BlackSeed turned to be the best fit. We hired them based on the reasonable price and project terms.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

BlackSeed has developed a comprehensive web solution for managing booking/transportation orders. The system is a web platform with a back-office module for internal employees and a real-time marketplace module for our external users.

Later we want to implement a mobile version for drivers allowing to trade or accept orders, confirm and send the documentation. Our accounting department will also utilize the billing module, receiving money from a client and a carrier. They solved those problems using the modern stack of technologies.

What was the team composition?

BlackSeed provided a team of two java developers of architect and middle levels, one Quality assurance / Scrum Master, two JavaScript specialists, UI/UX designer, and a product owner.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The freight logistics marketplace is ahead of competitors in multiple areas and we like the new features it provides. Although the project has not yet been completed, we have already been able to evaluate/ test a significant portion of implemented features.

The consistent progress the development team makes allows us to predict the efforts required for each development iteration.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The team utilizes agile development practices where we had no prior experience. Therefore, successful project management has been completely carried out by the team and their product owner.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their responsiveness is outstanding, assuming the work on the project with a lot of details and sometimes a lot of amendments. We can always contact their team around the clock. They provide immediate support, especially their product owner.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Naturally, there is nothing perfect and are improving in our professional relationships. BlackSeed has reliable testing protocols and bug fixes and we will continue working with them to ensure high quality of the product.
