Beyond the Vale is a custom software shop in Boise, Idaho run by Cody Peterson, a senior software engineer who went from DevOps to Tech Lead to Architect on a large government platform and now takes on any programming job, any size.
What I build: Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dynamics 365, Dataverse) for organizations already on Microsoft 365; C#/.NET and Azure backend services, integrations, architecture reviews, and CI/CD (I cut one government deploy from 4 hours to 15 minutes); AI integration with the plumbing done right (multi-provider abstraction, rate limiting, caching, fallbacks, RAG), not a chatbot wrapper; custom tools and automation scripts; and business websites built to actually be found in search.
How I work: most projects are fixed-price with a written scope, so there is nothing open-ended to approve. I communicate directly, explain trade-offs instead of jargon, and own problems end to end. Agencies and dev shops: I am available as white-label senior capacity under your name.
C# is home, but I also write Python, C++, and JavaScript, and I like the odd projects: computer vision, simulations, games, hardware that needs software. If it is software, ask.
