Better Mistakes were super responsive and understanding. Some elements of the brief changed after the outset but they handled this professionally. When asked for their creative vision they always delivered with innovative design and functionality to present our vision in a compelling way. They didn't require much hand-holding when it came to delivering on our visual identity. Their work was quick and of the highest quality

I liked how they went out of their way to understand the full context of our business and our goals. For example, they probed about what we wanted to achieve outside of the asset they were developing. This allowed them to develop modules that could be reused and repurposed. This strategic approach - while requiring more time up front - resulted in the super productive and efficient way of doing things.

Despite being a small company, they demonstrated an impressive ability to maintain rapid communication and deliverables, which exceeded expectations. This agility allowed them to quickly adapt to our needs, respond promptly to inquiries, and deliver high-quality work within tight timelines.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Better Mistakes could have done differently?

While Better Mistakes performed admirably overall, there were some areas where they could have improved: 

• Enhanced Quality Assurance: While their responsiveness and delivery speed were commendable, there could have been opportunities to enhance their quality assurance processes. This might involve implementing more rigorous testing procedures to identify and address any issues or discrepancies before final deliverables are submitted.

I’m the co-founder of a website called Investing in the Web. We analyze, review, and compare investment platforms.

What challenge were you trying to address with Better Mistakes?

We started the website in WordPress. It was good for non-developers like us, but we wanted to do something different, so we needed to build a platform from scratch.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Better Mistakes did the web design for our website. First, we had a call where we explained our idea and the problems we had. We also gave them website examples to explain what we wanted. They went from there and started development.

We had calls every two weeks to give feedback, and after two and a half months, they delivered the final design.

What is the team composition?

We were in touch with two people: the founder and Catarina (Webflow Designer & Developer).

How did you come to work with Better Mistakes?

We had great feedback from another company. We contacted them, and they gave us a budget. However, they were out of our limits, so they recommended Better Mistakes.

At that stage, we were looking for someone who would do the design and development. However, when we started talking to them, we decided we’d just work with Better Mistakes for the design work because they were experts in Webflow.

How much have you invested with them?

It was €8,000 (approximately $9,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We began our partnership in early May and ended it in mid-July 2021. However, we might need their help in the future.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t shared the prototype yet because it’s still in development. However, we’ve shown it to some people, and everyone has liked it.

How did Better Mistakes perform from a project management standpoint?

It was great. Everything ran smoothly, and they delivered the work on time. Also, they were always there to answer our concerns.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They got our idea from the start and had excellent design skills. However, they stood out for their people. We liked their openness and entrepreneurial spirit. The team was constantly communicating, and they were trustworthy. Better Mistakes was a great partner.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think they had to improve any area.

Be open to working side by side; they’re good partners.

Lead UX/UI Designer at Cleverly. Cleverly is your super agent that helps with real-time triage and intelligent automation, manages your knowledge base, and provides a friendly customer self-service experience.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Better Mistakes, and what were your goals?

Our website was created using WordPress and it required a dedicated web developer to make any changes. We designed our new website and then we hired Better Mistakes to translate those designs into a modular/component base WebFlow approach.

Since we are a Design team, we were hoping to increase the level of autonomy and then, the time it takes to make any changes and adjustments on our website, as well as increase the proficiency level in order to build new pages.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched online for companies that could help us achieve our goal, translating our Design into WebFlow. After some conversations, we chose Better Mistakes based on their project approach, professional skills, cost estimate, and project timeline.

We started with a exploratory meeting and we showed them our main design ideas, our goals and objectives. What could be done and what couldn't. We iterate on some other design ideas and them we close the scope for the project. From there, they practice a very professional approach, with a proper timeline in place was really easily to manage.

We were always in the loop of what's going on and when something needed to be tweaked, we worked together in order to do so. After a few iterations, their team had developed our components library and we move into a QA phase where we worked together in other to identify some possible tweaks. They created our main Components library, our design systems, and a few sample pages, all inside WebFlow with great standards.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with 2 people. They manage the project really well and all was perfectly done and the timeline was achieved with no time constraints.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to easily make changes on our websites (keep im mind we are a design team), create new pages, add new sections to existing pages, edit content, create blog posts, create case studies and bring our website online in just 1 week after their delivery. Pretty impressive.

We had weekly stand-ups, with a notion board in place for full project tracking. We knew exactly what they were doing and we followed along.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The friendly but really professional approach. Easy to communicate with, extremely valuable opinions, great contributions to the project, and the scope was achieved within the initial purposed timeline. After the project was delivered we even had a session to learn from them, how they build it and how to maintain our components. After the project finish, some questions arise.They were always available to help us. Thank you for that.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not that I remember. Just keep up the good work.
