I have hired Baker Tilly for several years for the preparation of tax returns, Canadian and US.

This firm was recommended by a friend.

My tax filings are not extensive, but I selected this company due to the difficulty and possible ramifications of errors in US returns.

The cost has been the same for several years, though the amount of work I have requested has varied.

How many resources from the firm's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

I have worked with a manager, who reports to a partner.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the engagement or general feedback about the services?

This year, for 2021 tax filings, I was quoted a very large fee for the preparation of the US return. I therefore found another firm to do this, late in April, and told Baker Tilly to go ahead with the Canadian return, which they said was in draft, and to relinquish the US work. Although it appeared the Canadian return was almost ready to go before the end of April, as of May 20 I have heard nothing more about it. It is difficult to avoid the assumption that I am being ignored due to removing part of my business.

My impression over the years has been that, though they have been efficient and thorough in the past, there is a lack of cordiality in their dealings.

I am insufficiently experienced to adequately compare with others at present.

They could have responded promptly to my concerns this year. At present, I feel as if I'm being ghosted.
