• We are a digital agency that builds websites, webshops and custom software for our clients. We were looking for a permanent team of developers to work on the technical delivery of our projects every day, as an extension of our team in the Netherlands. The goal was more development capacity that we manage ourselves, without having to recruit in Moldova, set up an office and handle HR there

We work with a team of developers at BackstageIT in Chișinău who work only for us. They build and maintain the websites, webshops and custom work we deliver to our clients, mostly in WordPress, PHP and Magento. We plan and manage their work ourselves, just like with our colleagues in the Netherlands. BackstageIT finds the developers, we interview them together and we decide who joins. They also take care of the office, the equipment and the HR side in Moldova, so we can focus on the work.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

We don't really track this in percentages. What I can say is that we've been working this way for multiple years and the team has kept growing, which we wouldn't do if it didn't work. Projects get delivered on time, our clients are happy and I don't have to worry about finding the right people anymore.

We plan the work ourselves, so the project management is mostly on our side. The developers are in our daily meetings and get things done when we agree they will. With BackstageIT itself the contact is easy. If we need an extra developer or something isn't going well, I get an answer quickly and they actually think along with us.

That the developers really feel like our own colleagues. We don't buy hours from a supplier, we have people who know our clients and our way of working and who are simply part of the team. I also like that it's a Dutch company, so the contact is direct and we understand each other quickly.

Nothing major comes to mind. Of course things come up now and then, like in any collaboration, but we talk about it and it gets sorted quickly.
