Avaltos was able to successfully identify 3 million dollars in savings after examining the costs and types of products, which was much higher than expected. Although they could’ve communicated more clearly and frequently, they were very sure of themselves.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP of strategic procurement at a food brands company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Avaltos?
We wanted to take a look at our packaging spend and trying to see how effective we were with what we were using, in terms of both the types and costs of products.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Carlos (President) was one component of the big picture. He came in, looked at our existing suppliers, and helped us benchmark against other suppliers. He then pulled together an RFP and put pressure on both the incumbent and potential new suppliers.
What is the team composition?
Carlos was my main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Avaltos?
We hired a consultancy firm, and Carlos, at that time, was working on that team. He was the subject matter expert.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from August 2018–January 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
He drove a significant amount of money out of our supply chain as far as packaging. Across the entire supply chain, we were able to identify 3 million dollars in savings for packaging. We only expected a couple hundred thousand dollars, so he knocked it out of the park.
How did Avaltos perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated in-person when he was in the office. Later on in the project, we communicated via email and phone calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Avaltos was very confident, which we needed for this project.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The consistency of Carlo’s communication could’ve been better. Because of his confidence and the leanness of our team, he went off and did his own thing. It would’ve been better if there had been constant communication about his findings, what the opportunities were, and how we could’ve executed them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Trust him and move forward quickly.
