Alleron handled our full cloud migration, from initial assessment to deployment. They also provided great documentation and staff training to support the new infrastructure.

We are a midsize firm and while our IT team is great, they don’t have the broad and deep expertise of Alleron. Because we were doing such a broad transformation, replacing Exchange with O365, moving servers to Azure, replacing cybersecurity tools, consolidating database servers, and transitioning to cloud desktops we needed not only help with technical design but making the process seamless for our business users. Alleron also helped us redesign internal governance and operational process related to these systems, such as Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity workbooks.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Alleron Expert Group is different from everyone we’ve worked with before. Most other CSPs and consultants make a lot of promises but stumble to execute. These guys were a breath of fresh air. Since we went into the new environment, we havn’t had a major outage.The issue that we do have get picked up and resolved in almost real time. The business users are able to work securely from anywhere without delays or interruptions. Because we’re in a regulated industry, we also pass all IT compliance audits easily and with less hassle.

I’m the CEO of Cloud Connected, a digital solutions consultancy. We’re establishing a new capability in the custom software engineering and product engineering space. The idea is to utilize current advances in generative AI to provide a different way of engineering custom software.

We were trying to figure out what our cloud infrastructure should look like and how we should build it. Many of our customers will share sensitive information with us, and with today’s focus on cybersecurity, it was important to make sure that we were building a proper cloud infrastructure to keep our customers’ information safe.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Alleron Expert Group helped us build a cloud environment. They did some work on our Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Sentinel. That cloud posture was a mix of infrastructure and platforms that we used to generate our tools and used our clients’ data to generate outcomes from that data.

The team's work focused on consulting and hands-on delivery of the cloud implementation. Alleron Expert Group configured Microsoft Azure cloud components, put them together, onboarded associates, and got us to a working state. The team worked remotely.

I was in contact with the principal, although I didn’t keep track of the team’s number of members.

How did you come to work with Alleron Expert Group?

I knew the principal from his previous firm. They’d done work for us before from an IT management services perspective. From that experience, I trusted their knowledge and ability to land and deliver without much fuss and back and forth.

When it was time to figure out how to put my cloud infrastructure together, I contacted Alleron Expert Group. We had a few conversations about what I needed, my data protection requirements, team size, storage, and compute. I described my requirements and what I needed to accomplish in a handful of meetings. They provided a quote that seemed reasonable, so we moved forward.

We spent $48,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–March 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

A measurable result was that I didn’t need to think about the project. I hired a vendor, and they produced an outcome for me. I was entirely hands-off and could trust Alleron Expert Group. 

Everything worked as expected. The hours returned to my mental space without taking up any of it. That was the best outcome I could have. If I need to scale something out, I’ll contact the team.

How did Alleron Expert Group perform from a project management standpoint?

This was a fixed-bid project, so the time component wasn’t as important. I paid for an outcome. I told the team my requirements, and they executed them.

I had constraints, but the project was completed in about a month. I was in constant communication with the project manager. When I asked for status and ETAs, they were very responsive. Alleron Expert Group proactively shared progress, so I had no complaints.

Communication was done over email and Microsoft Teams. They had access to my Microsoft Teams so I could reach out to a resource. We didn’t use a formal project management tool. Alleron Expert Group was responsive when I reached out for a status update or when they reached out with questions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The level of expertise and technical chops was impressive. Alleron Expert Group knew what they were talking about. They were accommodating, and the project was on rails; they were in and out.

Usually, things break in the middle of a project, or someone disappears. This was by far one of the least taxing projects I'd run with a vendor. The level of ownership, responsiveness, and technical expertise was all in one package. Alleron Expert Group came in, delivered good value, and stepped out when they were no longer needed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

This isn’t an area for improvement, but I wish Alleron Expert Group offered more services. I wish they were doing more than just cloud deployments. It’s difficult to find reliable, consistent partners, and I'd like that consistency across many different facets of your business.

It’s a shame they only offer managed services. I can’t use them for engineering or other purposes.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Think through your requirements. Don’t hold back on what you might need or what you’re looking at down the line. Lay everything out on the table and let them consult and advise you on the best way to approach it. Ask for options and trust the process. You’re going to get good value.
