the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a property startup company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Airdev?
We needed help building a web application to make it easier for us to close deals.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We discussed our requirements for the app with Airdev, and they submitted a proposal that met our needs. Then, they built the web application from scratch using Bubble. They created a feature that allows us to close deals more efficiently. They integrated Google Maps and APIs and linked the application to Stripe. They are also responsible for the design and continue to host and maintain the application.
We plan to launch the application in August 2022, but they have already delivered a totally functional product.
What is the team composition?
I work with a designer, developer, project manager, and a company liaison is helping us with the launch phase.
How did you come to work with Airdev?
I found Airdev on LinkedIn.
How much have you invested with them?
We have invested around $30,000 in the partnership.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in April 2022, and the engagement is ongoing as we prepare to launch in August 2022.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We haven’t launched the application yet, but it functions as we want it to. The APIs and Google Maps are integrated, which is what we wanted. Their design work is excellent. Our whole experience with Airdev has been positive. If I could give them 10 stars, I would.
How did Airdev perform from a project management standpoint?
They are excellent in terms of project management. They’re very communicative, forward-thinking, and results oriented. They’re knowledgeable and know exactly what they’re doing. They’re always there for me when I have questions and can anticipate my needs.
We’ve worked with other development partners in the past, and Airdev stands out regarding expertise, delivering on time, and working within our budget. We use Coda to keep track of the project's progress and their internal platform to maintain communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I am impressed that Airdev built a functional product within our budget and time frame. They have been honorable and transparent throughout the development process, and always mean what they say.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I have nothing they could improve on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice would be to be as specific as possible when communicating your project requirements.

Client Case Study: Dividend Finance
Today, Dividend Finance is a leading national provider of renewable energy and energy-efficient financing solutions to property owners.
But in 2014, it was a startup struggling to get its digital platform off the ground. It had started building an original product using a team of traditional software developers. However, after 6 months of development, Dividend had spent much of its budget and still didn't have a viable product. Feeling the pressure from burning a lot of time and cash on a solution that didn’t work, Dividend changed course. It partnered with Airdev to launch a minimum viable product (MVP) of the platform using the no-code tool Bubble – in just 6 weeks.
The results?
- Billions of dollars of loans have now been processed through the app
- Tens of thousands of reps interact with the system every day
- Hundreds of millions of dollars in equity financing have been raised
"Airdev has built a system that's allowed us to scale to hundred of millions of dollars of laons per year, with tens of thousands of reps. Without them, we wouldn't have been able to develop that core product nearly as quickly as we have." - Phil Meachin, VP of Program Management at Divided Finance

Client Case Study: Cadence Translate
Cadence Translate is a leading provider of language services to the global business and investment community.
Founded in 2014 with the goal to connect the private sector with world-class translators, Cadence Translate experienced rapid growth over a short period of time. By 2018, it had reached 2,500 professional linguists and realized that Salesforce’s per-seat cost model would become too burdensome at scale.
To find a more growth-friendly alternative, Cadence partnered with Airdev to reduce stress and cost by connecting Salesforce data to a custom no-code gig portal for thousands of its expert translators.
The results?
- 400% increase in jobs processed per month
- 3-fold growth in company revenue
- Longer lasting relationships with interpreters and clients
“In just weeks, Airdev created an elegantly streamlined version of our previous gig management platform, built on top of our Salesforce data. The result became an instant hit with our network of linguists, while dramatically reducing the time we spend on ongoing maintenance.” - Matt Conger, CEO of Cadence

Client Case Study: HP and Consenna
Consenna is a UK-based consultancy working with global tech manufacturers to design and deploy promotional campaigns.
In 2020, HP hired Consenna to support a program it runs to help schools get credit when trading up old equipment. This program, HP for Education, requires tight coordination between lots of different groups (i.e. schools, resellers, service providers, etc.).
To manage activities between these groups and meet its deadline, Consenna partnered with Airdev to build a custom no-code marketplace solution to save time and money, and to create the best experience for schools – in only 3 months.
The results?
- A multi-sided marketplace coordinating efforts between schools, resellers, service providers, and administrators
- A tool offered to 30k schools across the UK
- Consenna received additional request for work from HP
“We pride ourselves on going the extra mile, and having to rely on developers to deliver was incredibly stressful to us in the past. Taking a project like this that used to take us 6 months, and being able to launch in 6 weeks has been invaluable to us and our clients.” -Douglas Jeffrey, Chairman at Consenna

Client Case Study: Bolster
Bolster is a Design and Build Firm reinventing the home renovation experience. It uses proprietary data and technology to help homeowners quantify the true costs of their individual projects.
In 2019, Bolster sought to create 3 different custom tools to help serve its stakeholders, from realtor partners to potential homeowner clients. Notably, it wanted these products to be available within a matter of weeks.
To do this, Bolster partnered with Airdev to develop 3 custom no-code web-based apps on Bubble in just 6 weeks per app.
The results?
- Potential homeowner clients and realtor partners could estimate renovation costs and manage their projects without risk
- $2.8M in funding raised for Bolster
“Airdev’s team sets them apart. They are extremely knowledgeable, but at the same time, they are friendly and approachable. I’m not a tech employee, but the team never made me feel like I couldn’t understand what they were working through. Airdev presented everything in a way that was easy for me to grasp. It felt like we were truly a team.” - Nicole Kaes VP of Marketing at Bolster

Client Case Study: Teach for America
Teach for America is a non-profit organization working to close the educational achievement gap by enlisting recent college graduates to teach in low-income communities.
In 2015, its Bay Area regional office sought to replace its hodgepodge of spreadsheets, email blasts, and shared folders with a new workflow system that would make it easier for staff to support active teachers. It wanted a custom web application, but believed this was out of reach due to the cost and time of traditional software development.
However, that changed when it was discovered that the no-code tool Bubble could design what they wanted for a fraction of the cost of traditional development. In 2015, Teach for America partnered with Airdev to build a custom no-code customer relationship management (CRM) tool that has been able to expand over the years to do much more.
The results?
- A custom CRM tool built in just 4 weeks for staff to seamlessly support active teachers in the Bay Area
- The expansion of the CRM tool through the addition of new platform “portals” to support corps members across every stage of their journey (e.g. onboarding, training, and placement)
“Airdev has helped our Bay Area region to ditch the spreadsheets in order to better support our teachers. In just one month, we built an internal CRM system to fit our unique data needs and allow coaches to add and review notes on the go, right from their phones.” – Eric Scroggins, Chief Strategy Officer at Teach For America

Client Case Study: Tributi
In 2017, Tributi founders Andrés Vélez and Simón González were fed up with the painful, confusing, and costly process of filing taxes in their home country of Colombia.
“It is common for the preparation of the income statement to be more expensive than the payment of the tax itself, which is not an efficient tax structure.” - Andrés Vélez, Founder and CEO of Tributi.
The founders wanted to build a tax management software like TaxAct and Intuit (which owns TurboTax) to automate and simplify the tax filing process for all South and Latin Americans. Velez and Gonzalez had a clear vision for the product and user experience they wanted to build, they simply didn’t have the background in programming to do it.
To get around the programming barrier, Tributi partnered with Airdev to quickly build and launch a fully functional product on the no-code development platform Bubble.
The results?
- $800k in early investment from players like Y Combinator, Foundation Capital, and Graph Ventures to help grow the startup
- Latin American taxpayers and accountants can now prepare tax returns within 30 minutes, saving them an average of COP$100-$300K (US$100-175) on their tax returns

Client Case Study: Kidsbook.io
Kidsbook.io CEO and Founder David Vitek speaks about how Airdev helped Kidsbook.io launch a two-sided marketplace for booking kids activities in less than 6 weeks.
Airdev specializes in building custom online marketplaces and helped Kidsbook.io refine their product concept, test their hypothesis, and iterate on their product, leading to successful growth of their marketplace.

Automating Skills-Based Job Posting for Employers
“They offered a competitive price and finished all their work in a timely manner.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m an associate at an organization whose objective is to create a future where skills are valued over degrees or years of experience. In partnership with Microsoft and others, we are developing skills-based training and employment practices. We work with employers, educators, policymakers, and coaches to help the nearly 70% of Americans without college degrees get good jobs based on the skills they have or the skills they can learn.
What challenge were you trying to address with AirDev?
Whenever we trained clients on how to do skills-based hiring, they consistently told us that they wanted to adopt those practices but were struggling. They told us it took a lot of time and they weren’t sure how to define jobs in a skills-based way. We tried to find a tool that would automate the process but didn’t find one, so we began looking for a partner who could develop one.
What was the scope of their involvement?
AirDev built a mobile-friendly, web-based tool with the Bubble application. The tool connects to various different APIs. Employers and HR representatives can type a job title into the program, and the APIs pull data from different sources. We identified and cross-correlated what competencies and skills each API would pull, creating a hand-selected list of skills for each position someone searches in the program. After selecting a job title, users can review a skills-based job posting and add the company name, job overview, and which skills are required or preferred. They can also add if certain certifications or other requirements are needed, allowing end users to tailor the job post to their own company. AirDev currently provides maintenance and support.
What is the team composition?
We had two main points of contact.
How did you come to work with AirDev?
We tasked our in-house consultants with finding a company that would be able to build the tool. Our main qualifications were budget and speed, and AirDev was the best fit. They had a detailed and comprehensive plan, so we hired them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent less than $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We partnered in 2018, and the product launched in December.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Within 100 days after launching, we had users in 26 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. We’d sent the product to 26 governors and received positive feedback from users. It makes job hiring an easier, one-step process. We recently integrated a heatmap feature that lets us analyze user behavior, which we plan to use to make needed changes.
How did AirDev perform from a project management standpoint?
They were responsive and provided weekly status updates. Whenever we raised concerns, they quickly addressed them. They created their own portal to track complaints, show task statuses, and provide notes.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They offered a competitive price and finished all their work in a timely manner.
Are there any areas they could improve?
During the building stages, they didn't deliver some feature additions on time. Communication about the delay was lacking.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Be clear on deadlines, letting them know which ones are most important. Maintain clear communication and, if possible, have one person responsible for talking to them.

Web & API Development for Rent Payment Company

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the founder of an online payment website that makes it easy for landlords to collect rent from tenants through bank transfers.
For what projects/services did your company hire AirDev?
We hired Airdev to build our website and create a UI for landlords and tenants to be able to set up their accounts and track their payments,
We well as integrating with multiple payment providers to authenticate bank accounts and process payments.
What were your goals for this project?
Our main goal was to have a fully functional website that allowed landlords to collect rent from tenants.
How did you select this vendor?
While searching for development companies, AirDev was our top choice for several reasons. We appreciated their speed, credibility, and flexibility. They promised to complete the entire project in one month and scoped every feature request. This is a testament to their experience and expertise with the software. They had completed hundreds of projects, and the founders had strong business backgrounds and a strong familiarity with the technology.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
This was a complicated project that involved designing frontend UI and user flows, storing information in the database, and enabling API integrations with payment partners.
They created a separate dashboard for landlords and tenants. Landlords can add properties and tenants or view the status of each payment in their dashboard. Tenants can view the status of each payment and make payments. When a landlord or tenant creates a payment, the object and its details are stored in the database so they can be edited or canceled. The database can also automatically create a recurring payment each month.
The most complicated part of this project was integration with our payment partners. This involved a deep understanding of APIs. To link bank accounts, AirDev used Javascript to display a third-party authentication page. To facilitate payments, they wrote a series of API calls to send commands to the payment partner. Finally, they integrated webhooks that trigger real-time emails when the status of transfer changes.
What was the team composition?
We had a single primary point of contact at AirDev, which was efficient for us. They communicated with us and got our feedback on changes.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Because of their help, we launched our business in just a few months. Without AirDev, it would have taken several more months to build our website, and its features would most certainly not have been as rich.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Their project management was highly streamlined. A single point of contact helped by scoping, communicating updates, collecting feedback, and answering questions. The scoping phase is of the most important aspects of a project because it determines the time, cost, and feasibility of the requested work. Because of their previous experience, AirDev scoped the project accurately. There weren't any surprises, and they completed everything within the designated timeframe.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
What impressed me most about AirDev, and what separated them from other developers, was their ability to combine business and technical expertise to produce a great product. Most other companies simply implement requirements without thinking about the business implications; that often results in unanticipated issues and poor work quality.
While they were building the application, AirDev was also thinking about its implications for the customer experience and website efficiency. That allowed me to modify requirements as challenges and new ideas appeared.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No, AirDev exceeded all my expectations.

For what projects/services did your company hire AirDev?
My company hired AirDev to develop the MVP of our search and review platform.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted a fully-functioning site on which healthcare providers and vendors could sign up, engage in conversation, and leave reviews, amongst other activities. We wanted MVP costs but full-product functionalities.

We searched for programmers with expertise in Bubble and found AirDev. My team considered one other vendor, but we were more comfortable with AirDev’s approach.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
AirDev wrote the full project scope and built wireframes. They developed a responsive web application to allow for enhanced viewability on any device. The also built APIs to MailChimp, SendGrid, and Stripe.

What did you find most impressive about this company?
The team's speed and knowledge set them apart. AirDev offered competitive industry rates.
Are there any areas for improvement?
They didn’t fully spell out a few items in the scope document, so we missed them. However, AirDev was great about making updates and changes as we came across such issues.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the co-founder of Endourse. We are building a social travel platform to connect friends to exchange travel recommendations.
For what projects/services did your company hire AirDev?
We needed to outsource development and other technical work, including prototyping and testing.
What were your goals for this project?
To build our minimum viable product. We wanted a prototype that would be intuitive, social, and functional.
How did you select this vendor?
We did extensive web research and chose AirDev for their scheduled prototype delivery (typically within a week) and their reasonable pricing. We also appreciated their professionalism and responsiveness in the pre-contract phase, as they were thorough and helpful in consulting with us through our requirements and giving valuable advice on reaching our goal.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
They built our platform from scratch. First, they guided us through the planning phase. Then they did the web development, including iterations on the platform based on customer feedback.
What was the team composition?
We interfaced with two people during the project: one person during the sales process, and then a project manager who handled our account throughout the engagement.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
AirDev put our prototype in front of users quickly, which exceeded my expectations. They delivered a quality product at a reasonable price. In addition, their perspective and guidance proved invaluable.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Our project manager was a very effective communicator. She was highly collaborative, met all deadlines, and managed our expectations successfully.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They work as a trusted partner instead of a third-party vendor, and they’ve made many changes for free. Their quality deliverables are produced with the customer in mind. I found their team highly responsive from the start, and their effective planning and quick and reliable development have made a strong impression.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No, I can’t think of anything.

Custom Software Development for Software Company
“I was really impressed with the service they provided.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of a company that basically helps other companies purchase software pieces.
What challenge were you trying to address with Airdev?
I used Airdev to help build out the MVP version of our tool.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Airdev helped me design and develop the MVP version of our tool. First, I provided them with some documentation, and they scoped and refined the project, a process that lasted for about a month. Then, they went into the development phase. They broke the development process into three stages to make it more manageable.
For this project, Airdev used Bubble, the main platform they use for development. Additionally, they used Canvas, a tool they built on Bubble. After building the MVP, they also were in charge of its integration so that it was functional. With it, we could see what users saw, as well as all the functionality behind the administrative side for user management.
Airdev also offered a 30-day cost-free support period to test the tool and change anything if needed. Additionally, they offer ongoing support if we want future changes outside the original scope.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Mike (Project Manager), Pablo (Software Developer), a designer, and a QA person.
How did you come to work with Airdev?
I searched for Bubble developers in the space and looked at their reviews. I also made some calls and got some quotes. I felt comfortable working with Airdev because they were great. Mike was very helpful during the scoping process, making me decide to go with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in November 2021, and they finished the first development in January 2022. However, we plan to continue working with them.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Airdev delivered what they promised, so it was a great engagement. Working with them, we didn’t come across any surprises, and when bugs appeared, they were very accommodating in fixing them promptly. Overall, I was really impressed with the service they provided.
How did Airdev perform from a project management standpoint?
Airdev performed very well. They had a very good process in place and a great portal where we worked off of. They created this portal internally, and we used it to communicate. Through it, we could share screenshots, create tasks, and more. In addition to that, we had a call every two weeks for status updates.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Airdev’s structure was their strong suit. They were very organized during the process; we could see that this wasn’t their first project. I also really liked working through their portal. Overall, it was a very well-managed process.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No. For the most part, it was a very smooth process. If I could go back and make something different, I would have tried to refine the scope a little more. Things outside the agreed scope cost extra, but that’s not their fault.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Focus on the scope and ensure it is as clear and refined as possible.
