Yousician is a Finnish interactive and educational music service made to learn and play a musical instrument. It currently supports the following musical instruments: guitar, piano (keyboards), ukulele, bass, and voice. I'm an Analytics and Data Science Team Lead at Yousician at this moment in time.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

AI Roots provided consulting services and helped the company revisit and plan future data strategy. Support with multiple practical data projects was provided as well.

Developed the company data strategy. Based on rounds of data stakeholder interviews Roots AI suggested a company data strategy roadmap which was approved and boosted next year's company data-driven development.

As a result, the data team structure that fits the company the most was designed and implemented.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Adoption of self-service BI system amongst company employees increased by 25%. Project managers, domain area leads and other key stakeholders' satisfaction with product analytics and data science support increased significantly.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The cooperation with RootsAI went really smoothly and effectively.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

RootsAI team managed to deliver impressive results in quite a reasonable amount of time. Data professionals with business acumen helped Yousician to advance in many with, from the ways of working with data to getting the most out of the data modelling level of our data warehouse.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Their team deliverables were quite valuable and solid, noting major to mention for areas of improvement.

I am the founder of software consulting company with today around 200ppl working on design and development.

For what projects/services did your company hire AI Roots Oy?

We had an important project for one of our customers in the financial software domain to automate their invoice handling process and create an algorithm that will learn to do e.g. VAT classifications, etc.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We knew that this was going to be a very specific task to create such an algorithm and we asked for a referral from our vendor network. We ended up interviewing two data scientists from Ai Roots and they convinced us to be the right match for the job.

We kicked off by doing an innovation/design sprint and as a result the data scientist took lead for planning the algorithm and our developers then joined to do the implementation.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project in overall was a great success and the end customer has within short timeframe gained >30 new customers (situation 9/2022) with the help of the product that we co-created for them.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had a very senior team in place so from the start it was very easy to collaborate. Most importantly we quickly identified the shared vision / desired outcome for a successfull project and identified the potential blockers.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Since we do not have strong in-house competence for data science, it was great to see how the AI Roots team also taught and mentored our software developers to gain those skills as a side result of the project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Few times I felt we could have maybe chopped the project into smaller tasks but this is just a minor note and only came up in retro afterwards.

We are delivering software solutions to multiple hundred public institutions in the Nordics. The project challenge is to provide integrated AI components to drive automation and intelligent user experience. AI Roots helped us with the right competence to support architecture and implementation tasks

We had a positive experience with AI Roots earlier and they had access to the right competence in their network

They are helping us currently especially with the data infrastructure for the AI integration, including data pipelines, APIs and MLops

we are making very good progress on establishing a scalable ai infrastructure

We are running a 3 weeks scrum rhythm, including a very close customer interaction

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The quality of the network and the competence within the coordination with the company itself. They can navigate the AI competence space very well to provide us with relevant candidates
