They designed and followed a Continuous integration/continuous delivery methodology that upgraded the platform one module at a time. Our business was not interrupted. We had regular demos and feedback sessions that helped to fine tune the features as per the business needs. 

After the initial development of our software systems, the same team supported our insurance operation from technical side. That included batch jobs, reconciliation, upgrades, adding new features as well changes to comply with state insurance regulators mandates including changes in response to natural disasters like hurricanes. They instituted the process of adding and working on support tickets.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Their methodology of Continuous integration/continuous delivery was world class. Every week, they will demo what was discussed and developed last week. They understood our business domain quite well so working with the team felt very easy. Apart from that since the team worked on a different time zone and overlapped with us we did not have to worry about any wait times and could continue our daily work easily.

We shared some user manuals to explain our workflows. Then we discussed the project details through various incremental calls and emails. We communicated through email, Slack and weekly calls and managed the project through Atlassian JIRA. Their team was very responsive and asked a lot of questions on the desired changes that we put Infront of them. They came back with impact areas where sometimes we had to go back to the drawing board to change the initial changes.

Initially, there was quite a back and forth on the design aspects. Some of the initial work was not done with inputs from all stakeholders like Underwriting group. Once the feedback from the stakeholders was taken, things flowed better. I think that area can be improved.

We interviewed vendors with experience with Insurance Software and decided on who we felt had the best qualified.

The vendor had to review the system, understand the coding and errors and plan the fixes by transaction type. We agreed with the plan and gave them access to fix the errors in Dev and move to staging for testing. When approved, the code would be released into production.

Their CTO was the main contact. We had a project manager and 3-5 staff for the various transactions that required new code.

The platform was fixed and running without errors. Clients recognized the improvements as they were rolled into production.

Everything was completed on time as per the schedule they created.

We have an ongoing list of projects in our backlog and bugs that pop up. I assign a project to a team member, work with them to get it solved, and we push the solution live. Majority of our communication is done through Jira and Zoom.

We have a project manager and 2 dedicated developers. We have also hired people for off projects (like a designer and an architect to rework our CRM).

One huge success was when we reworked the architecture of our CRM and we speed the system up significantly. Our users were seeing much better results.

We mainly used Jira to communicate back and forth. I also used WhatsApp to talk directly to our project manager. We also have a weekly zoom call to discuss progress.

I really appreciate them finding solutions to problems that I wasn't even aware that they existed.

I think that they could improve their QA testing a bit before having me test it out.

since we have live users so we were very particular about not touching the existing user data or functioning. so we asked the team to do the development separately and we will have a deployment plan in place. the project management was done as per our expectations and code delivery was done in collaboration with our teams in Texas.
