Anastomosis (ADL KSA) is a design and build firm that comprises of designers, architects and engineers who strive to defy conventional boundaries. We explore various design and fabrication techniques through critical observations and imaginative speculations.
Located in the city of Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, ADL explores the role of design & build in defining the upcoming development in the region aligned with the vision 2030.
Knowledge can be defined as the understanding of information around us, acquired through questioning, discovering and learning. A successful learning environment must stimulate a subconscious triggering of information in the brain. Inspired by the paper folding art of Origami, the proposed design philosophy aims to enhance the students’ thinking process and train them to create links between the micro and macro worlds.
Commissioned under the guidance of HRH Prince Khalid Al Faisal, the experience of the King Abdul Aziz Water Endowment Museum is choreographed to commemorate the rooted heritage of the organization. The endowment was established in 1947 to address the water crisis in the Hejaz region. Since then it has conducted various expeditions to ensure a continuous flow of clean, fresh, and sterilized water from the Fatima Valley to the city of Jeddah.
The Design embodies the fluidity of water in space with the aim of creating a balance between the exhibited artifacts and the spatial experience.
Baza’an were traditional drinking water fountains for the residents of the city of Hejaz. To revive this tradition King Abdul Aziz water Endowment commissioned Anastomosis Design Lab to design and build 24 new Baza’ans all over Jeddah.
The design takes its inspiration from the story of the endowment when they laid the first pipe from Fatima Valley to Jeddah in order to create fresh water supply to the city. The form of the Baza’an is intended to reminisce the concrete pipe segments used in different projects by the endowment.
The world of advertisement is defined by a series of messages crafted to persuade the people to consume products. These messages are short-lived illusions that are left as memories. Provocative memories that create desires.
The design of Red Impact office celebrates the phenomenon of advertisement by embodying the notion of illusion and ephemerality in space. In order to physically translate the concept, anamorphic graphics were utilized to create an interesting illusion of shape shifting space.
