ABRASEL

Abrasel is a business associative organization whose mission is to represent and develop the out-of-home food sector (AFL), facilitating entrepreneurship and improving the quality of life in the country.   The sector brings together one million businesses and generates six million direct jobs throughout Brazil, currently representing 2.7% of national GDP. In addition, the habit of eating away from home is increasing in the country and, in the latest survey by IBGE, corresponded to 31.1% of all Brazilian food spending (POF IBGE 2008-2009).   Behind the huge numbers and the social importance of this sector are more than two million entrepreneurs who, through their businesses, create jobs, foster Brazilian cuisine, offer the population leisure alternatives and promote positive changes in the neighborhoods where their establishments are located. This is where Abrasel's mission is echoed: lively streets, citizens with a better quality of life and a simpler endeavor. As a legitimate representative of this sector, Abrasel works towards advancements for AFL and the country. In this sense, it has been working hard with the political and business leaders, which has resulted in important achievements such as tipping and intermittent work, for example.   Abrasel assumes an increasingly active role in driving structural changes in politics, economy and social relations with the aim of building a New Brazil. To this end, it has invested in its expansion and capillarization project: there are 27 sectionals in all federative units and 18 regional units. They are fundamental pieces for the realization of projects and events promoting gastronomy as a competitive differential for tourism, as well as for qualification actions and generation of intelligence for the sector.
