I’m the head of business at Eko, a fintech startup.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with 91social?

We wanted to work on lending but we didn’t have the bandwidth for it, so we hired 91social for custom development work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We outsourced our software development to 91social. They developed from scratch a tool that could enable us to do lending on our app. The team used React Native, Node.js, and Java, and we provided them with the documentation. 

91social also helped us translate the entirety of our app from English to six other languages. They integrated the APS functionality that we provided into it and assisted us with integrating the app with some outside banks.

What is the team composition?

We’re working with 4–5 people, and that includes the project manager.

How did you come to work with 91social?

91social was recommended by our business head of lending. He was the one who did the online research.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project began in April 2021 and is currently ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The 91social team’s deliverables, timelines, escalation practices, and management skills are quite good. Our overall satisfaction is at 70%. They’ve met our expectations.

How did 91social perform from a project management standpoint?

I’d say they’re fairly good when it comes to sticking to schedules and budgets. We work remotely and communicate over the phone, email, and frequent online meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their strength is in their project planning. 91social always provides us with a timeline, which gives us a tentative idea of how long any project will take. I’m quite happy with that and with their ability to break the project down into smaller tasks. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their technical work isn’t up to the mark, and I think they could hire better developers. They don’t have much experience in the financial domain, which has called for a bit of rework and more review sessions. It would be good if they could take care of the business details of clients like us.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Provide them with what you want at the start and they will do a good job.
