Overall, we needed an app that will help our traveling agency improve customer experience, increase efficiency, and stand out from the competition.

In regards to their project management, I found the company to be quite organized and efficient. They utilized a variety of project management tools and methodologies that helped to keep the project on track and moving forward. In terms of delivery timelines, the company was able to deliver items on time and within the agreed-upon deadlines.

This was especially impressive given the complex nature of the project and the tight timelines that we were working with. We hired Your App Hero for the web and app development of inquireaboutme. Our goal was to create a seamless social media network, via online and app. This includes multiple user profiles, posts, messaging, notifications, and a host of other features.

I found Your App Hero from an internet search. My team and I searched locally and abroad, and Your App Hero provided great cost for the services we needed.

Your App Hero created web interfaces and functionalities for our online interface, that intertwines with the app (for Google Play and Apple) that included wire frames to ensure accuracy. This is very complex, however, Your App Hero is able to solve our problems and met our objectives with ease.

We have a core team of 3 (being a young tech startup). Most interactions were with me. But there has been times when our IT Director worked exclusively with the programmers.

Your App Hero provides Screen Cast videos to show progress. They also provide updates on a consistent basis. There has never been a time where we didn't receive a quick response for questions we may have. They listen and provide guidance every step of the way.

Our forms of communication is via email. However, Your App Hero does use project management 3rd parties (if elected to do so). The response to our Q&A is quick, and changes are done within 24 hours.

We provide Your App Hero with a blueprint of what we're trying to do or accomplish. The follow it to a tee and offer suggestions along they way. I was skeptical at first (as with any company), but they proved to be a reputable company. They are very professional, patient, and easy to work with.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Given the quality of work Your App Hero produces, and the timeliness of deliverables, it's challenging to find areas of improvement. Particularly, given how Your App Hero works steadfastly to provide excellent customer service.

I founded the startup 60sec with another cofounder. It was a mobile app to shoot 60 second videos to pitch yourself as a video profile. The app was developed and launched on google play store.

I was looking for vendors and spoke to many, they were one of them. I found them on Google Search.

It took a few weeks to finalise the scope and the services price. The project then started with requirements elicitation followed by design proro-typing. It was agile development where frequent builds were provided to us to check and test features to provide feedback. Initially we had face to face meetings but then later into the project cycle we were working more virtually as I was based in Singapore. Swift / React Native / Ionic / PHP were used.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The app was launched as MVP in 3-4 months. I had resource bottlenecks at my end which was a constraint. We kept on launching the releases with bug fixes and new features subsequently. In the initial 3 months after launch we managed to secure a few good recruitment firms as clients.

Email, trello, calls were used as mode of communication including working level chat groups. Project management style was largely waterfall with some mini phases in agile mode.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their sincerity and honesty helped build trust. I have done other work with them too apart from 60sec.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Improvement areas could be on more availability during my timezone as I was a few hours ahead of them but we adjusted a little and they adjusted a little as and when needed.

We needed a custom platform built to make our old software current. A complete re-design & build was required, as well as on-going updates & support.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

They were able to provide exactly what I needed in a timely and cost-effective manner. This included front-end work that our user sees, to back-end databases as well as migrating all of our old information to the new system. They also provided on-call support during our launch to ensure everything worked well.

They did a great job listening to our needs and rebuilding our program, page by page. We did not much of the old code, so they had to rely on video models & written explanations. They did a great job replicating our program, without having a good starting point. They re-did our website program, as well as our stand-alone Point of Sale.

There are a few individuals that work on the team including developers, quality engineers and front of house communications. I am able to communicate with them via Trello for each individual tasks, and they also respond to email and whatsapp. They do an excellent job communicating and keeping me updated.

They completed the project on time and also offered launch support, as well as on-going updates. We have been extremely pleased with the results and will continue to use their work for many years.

They do a great job of communicating and are very efficient in tasks. I have not given them anything that they have not been able to accomplish. They understand my needs well and are able to implement each task.

I am very happy with the quality of work, especially at the price point. I believe it is very fair and cost-effective. They do an excellent job with our programming and we're able to complete each task efficiently. They are also trustworthy in working with sensitive data.

I honestly have been very happy, and would not change anything with out working relationship.

We own a private limited company based in Malaysia and been involved in mail and courier services since 2015. We are passionate about delivering value for our clients. The services we provide gave us inspiration to venture into digital mailbox services and BasicsMail was born.

So there we were back in 2018 with an idea, no different than most people with dreams that could change lives and realized, we did not possess the skills to build a system to bring our dreams to life. And like most, I got on my computer one night and just googled up help for a web designer or systems developer and started researching and found “Your App Hero” (YAH) and read reviews about the work they have done, just like you are reading ours now.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Well we must admit, we were apprehensive to pick YAH as our 1st pick and so, we found another company and gave both parties the same brief to help us decide. The other vendor seemed to had more projects and equally great reviews but it was Mr. Adam’s responses that felt more sincere that tipped the scale for us. It wasn’t the projects that YAH did but the willingness to learn more from total strangers and their issues and problems, half way across the world.

Think about it, it might be your dream but for the people you are going to hire = “your team”, it’s all problems, heartaches, arguments, unclear briefs from you, etc that people like YAH must navigate and balance for you. So please keep that at the back of your mind. If you are reading this review, remember the main challenge you will have to overcome is your own frustrations, lack of understanding, deadlines, financials, etc and having someone on the other end to interpret your thoughts is KEY because if you and/or I had the skills, we would have done it ourselves.

It’s a digital mailbox system that allows people to have a mailbox address with us and have us receive and handle mail for them without the need for the customer to come in physically. The customers can literally take charge of us with a push of button, no different than your TV remote. Bottom line, the project was delivered beyond expectation and we just love the system YAH build for us. We believe perhaps its best we answered the process as how we experienced it. Like I said we live in Malaysia, so we are 12 to 13 hours ahead. Although we had the ability to work on conference calls, we never did. We never once took a call or had a video conference call with YAH.

Everything was done only via e-mails. Which means any corrections, adjustments, changes, etc had to be short and/or as clear as it could be so that nothing gets lost in translation. Think about it, how much can you say or get across with an e-mail as your only interface. It’s how we choose to work and we knew it would make things a lot harder for the team at YAH, but they kept up and always hit the nail on the head. Most often, we used to send an e-mail and think, “no way they will understand what we said so let’s just wait for questions or clarification” but it never came. In fact, YAH had managed to pick-up on what we needed, expanded and often came back with things we never thought of. Think about that for a moment. As you make your journey through the decision tree, please think about how you work?

Personally, spending money on a problem is the easiest decision you will make because once you commit, its months of work you and your team will have to put in and that is why you should read reviews. Do you want to bother yourself to fit into someone else’s square or have them work in your circle because that’s how you see things. The team in YAH did that in spades. It’s been 4 years since we had the pleasure of working with YAH and until this very moment, writing this review, we did not realise how difficult we were back then and yet, they came through and made sure we understood things based on our circle.

Good question. There were several key team members that were in the loop but we only dealt with Mr. Adam’s. Again, our circle and never once, Mr. Adam’s ever asked us to speak to someone else because he had something else to do. Every e-mail, and there were a lot, was addressed to Mr. Adam’s and he always answered with the same speed and tolerance. If you had ever worked out in the gym there is an saying, “your 1st rep should be the same as your last rep” and we will admit, Mr. Adam’s never once gave us an excuse and/or passed us on to someone else at any stage of the project no matter how trivial the situation.

Please visit BasicsMail.com. The project was handed over and we went live in February 2020 just before Malaysia went into lockdown from the pandemic. We had to mothball the project and are looking forward to reviving our plans in a next few months and working with YAH as we move forward.

The workflow was smooth and we understood everything they did and delivered because they managed to translate complex matters into ways we could understand. They managed to fit into our circle.

If you have read this far, you may have formed an opinion about us. We hope we were able to relate to you. Being an INFJ personality type, I am very selective about how I let people in. For me, I sincerely reference their team as part of our extended family. So I guess what impressed us the most about YAH is that how professional and honourable they are about the work they did for us and in this day in age, sometimes people you know the least make the biggest impacts and you should find and keep these people close because unlike a family member, strangers have to earn your trust.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

You got to love reviews and surveys. There is always room to improve, same for everyone. Just remember, a company helping you with your projects are only as good as how you handle your stress levels around them. Please do not think that the “customer is right” just because you are paying someone. There are tens of millions of us out there. Its finding that one supplier that is willing to work with you and your own inadequacies and intricacies. Take care of your suppliers and you will do well.
