I have an online jewelry business selling to retail customers with an emphasis on bridal jewelry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Yellow Moose?

I needed a new website. Mine was being hosted in Australia and I’d needed to change it for ages. Yellow Moose designed and built my site. They built it on WooCommerce. To begin, they were going to help me with my existing site with a view toward launching a new website. It soon became apparent that the existing site wasn’t fit for purpose anymore so we began production on a new site.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They created some designs and a development site so I could go in and see what they were up to. In terms of designs, I had quite fixed ideas as to what the home page would look like but it was still a collaboration. They were great at listening to what I wanted and coming up with their own ideas.

After the designs were sorted, they were incredibly quick at building the site. I would look at the development site each step of the way and let them know that I was happy with the direction they were going. After the launch, they created a series of YouTube video tutorials, which was incredibly helpful to me in managing the backend of the site moving forward.

What is the team composition?

I met with Martin (Managing Director) and a couple of their other people. Martin was my main contact.

How did you come to work with Yellow Moose?

They were a recommendation through a Facebook networking group aimed at women. Yellow Moose was local to me as well.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve spent £3,850 ($5,100 USD) with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January until April 2020. Our next phase is SEO, which I’m talking to them about this week.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve had a ton of sales these past few months. Most of my sales haven’t come from the website in the past but that’s not the case anymore. I want to continue working with them to bring it up further.

How did Yellow Moose perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated daily when the site was being built but it really depended on what phase of the project we were in. Martin was always there to talk to and explain technical things to me. The tutorials they made were particularly helpful. Sometimes I’d text him at night, not expecting a response until morning and he’d respond 30 minutes later.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were incredibly professional at every turn. They always knew what they were talking about. I really liked their collaborative process as well. I knew what the home page had to look like but there were a few other points I was stuck on. They had very good ideas around those. It was a very easy experience.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I really can’t think of anything. It was great.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you don’t have a clear idea of what you want that’s fine, but if you do have an idea you have to make it very clear what you want.

I’m the director of a recruitment agency in the United Kingdom.

What challenge were you trying to address with Yellow Moose?

We’ve worked together twice. The first time, we were constructing a new website for a new venture company I’m setting up. They’ve also reproduced my current website for the recruitment agency, rebuilding it from scratch.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The first website involved an e-commerce shop, which they completely set up from scratch. The recruitment site showcases vacancies and openings, which are imported from our database API. Then, using Google Cloud, it populates a Google Map with the location of each agency. These projects were more complex than simple web text sites.  

What is the team composition?

I worked with four people but had two main points of contact. 

How did you come to work with Yellow Moose?

After I did a Google search for web design companies, I reviewed 3–4 vendor options. They were local and captured our vision the best.

How much have you invested with them?

For both sites, we spent about £4,200 (approximately $5,500 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

The first project spanned April–August 2019. The second project took place in May–June 2020.

They provided high-quality work, and I was very happy with their skills and knowledge.  

How did Yellow Moose perform from a project management standpoint?

They kept in touch with me every day through an account manager. He’d return my emails same-day, and task expectations would be discussed in all of our meetings. Communication was never a problem—I got immediate responses through phone and email. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were keen to offer extra services to make sure that they fulfilled our job requirements. We appreciated their focus on producing an excellent website and working through the challenges of achieving that. They have a passion and enthusiasm for their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’ve worked with a number of companies, and they’re able to stick to quotes and budget while producing quality better than others. I can’t fault them for anything at this stage.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Their pricing is very competitive for our area, and they’re willing to put additional hours into a project to make sure it’s high-quality. They’ve never found a task unachievable.

I needed some help with web development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I have graphic design experience, so we worked collaboratively to put together an e-commerce website. I designed some things, but they did all of the development and helped with SEO. 

They’ve also done photography for me.

I have two main points of contact, but I’ve worked with additional people as well. 

How did you come to work with Yellow Moose?

I was looking for a local developer. I saw a few websites that they designed for other local businesses, so I decided to go with them. 

How much have you invested in them? 

I invested about £2,000 (approximately $2,615 USD) for the initial development project, and I continue to spend about £300 (approximately $392 USD) per month for ongoing support. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2019, and we have an ongoing relationship. The website is launched, but they’re still providing monthly SEO and social media management support.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality of the work they provide is brilliant. They’ve helped me with tasks that they don’t normally do, including 360-degree photography for the website. I’ve got good feedback from users. 

How did Yellow Moose perform from a project management standpoint? 

They performed very well. Whenever we discuss tasks, they provide a deadline for when things can be done. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very easy to work with. I like that they’re only down the road from me, so we can meet in person. They’re also responsive and proactive. The team is always pushing the project forward. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really. Together, we’ve created a great website and I’m doing well sales-wise.

I had a clear vision of what I wanted my website to look like. They can help you refine your ideas, but it’s good to have some references for what you want.

First, they did a needs assessment. Then, they updated my website and made it more user-friendly. Also, when I was getting a lot of spam emails, they made it so I would only receive proper inquiries.

I knew of their work and was impressed with the websites they showed me. They were also quite competitive on price.

We spent less than $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2017, and we wrapped up in October 2017.

I am the director of Finding My Palace which is an accommodation and property development company. We also own Sorsi e Morsi which is a Neapolitan pizza and wine company.

At that time, we were looking for someone to develop websites for us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built three websites for us and look after our email capabilities. For anything to do with our website or email, we go to Yellow Moose. I’m not a technologically savvy person, so I wanted things to be simple and reliable. 

They took the time to get to know our businesses specifically to find out what they could offer.

I worked with Martyn (Director). 

How did you come to work with Yellow Moose?

We found them through a PA that was working for me at that time.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent between £2,000–£3,000 (approximately $2,650–$3,975 USD) so far, but it might be a little bit more. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began with them in February 2019, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality is very good. We have good communication. Martyn is there every time we need him. I find his communication, professionalism, business acumen, energy, and enthusiasm to be really good.

How did Yellow Moose perform from a project management standpoint?

They do very well when it comes to project management. I’m very comfortable with their deadlines and communication, and that’s usually a flaw for most businesses. Martyn is patient and personable. The solution just works. Quite honestly, that is just paramount to me. I don’t care about bells and whistles; I want stuff that works.

We mostly communicate via email and text. So many people are short on delivery in this day and age, and you can’t rely on anyone, but I can rely on Martyn. If he says he will do something, he does it and that’s all there is to it. Martyn has our goals in mind, whereas all most people have is sales figures in mind and couldn’t care less about the client. We know with Yellow Moose we are working towards achieving what we want to achieve one step at a time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

All the websites they have done are good looking, and they work beautifully. There are a few little tweaks to do still, but it works. He delivers and he doesn’t give up. The thing that impresses me most is their reliability and credibility. It isn’t just talk.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, the only challenge is that I don’t have the time to talk to them and move things forward as much as I would like to. We are just coming out of the COVID-19 lockdown right now and picking up our business up by the bootstraps. Things are moving forward, and we are running to get all these things up and running again. 

The only criticism I have is that we don’t have more time to spend talking to Martyn about what we want to do with the team. There is no real criticism. I am very comfortable with every penny I have spent with them and am very happy with the base that we are building. The e-commerce site has probably almost paid for itself in a few weeks. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communicate and tell them what you are looking for and see what they come up with. It isn’t about the whistles. Martyn is a very deep-thinking strategist. There aren’t really any gimmicks with their company; they just get on with it.
