I’m the COO of Whiteflash, an e-commerce business that sells diamonds, engagement rings, and jewelry online. We also have a showroom.

What challenge were you trying to address with Xvand Technology Corp.?

We hired Xvand for their cloud computing and development services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Xvand provides our IT needs in cloud computing. Apart from that, we’ve used them to develop our website and the backend of our admin system.

For IT, the team takes care of purchasing and installing most of our regular computers in the office. The same goes for the software programs we use, such as Microsoft Office and QuickBooks. They don’t handle all of our hardware and software, though; other teams handle more specialized items within our company.

Moreover, Xvand provides both on- and off-site services. They come here every month to deal with any on-site issues that they cannot fix remotely. However, most issues are taken care of remotely via their help desk.

For the website development project, Xvand has built our website from scratch. It’s an advanced and complicated site. Its frontend is more than simple content pages since we have catalogs, ring builders, and product comparisons. We use plenty of customized features, videos, and images to showcase our products in the best way possible on our website.

On the backend, we have various sections. There’s a section for admin, content management, order processing, accounting, photography, and products. This is a truly complicated product.

How did you come to work with Xvand Technology Corp.?

I’ve been with this company since 2005, and Xvand has worked with us even before I joined the firm. In other words, it wasn’t me who found them, but I kept them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $1 million–$10 million.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2001, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We receive reports on our website, and uptime is crucial for us. Our uptime is 99.99%, which has been a great thing for us.

How did Xvand Technology Corp. perform from a project management standpoint?

In terms of tools, we’ve been using Zoom for the last couple of years. However, we’re transitioning to Teams as Microsoft has been building their systems a lot more. Xvand also has a ticketing system we use.

What did you find most impressive about them?

There’s no perfect relationship, but we want people we can work with and do a good job. We want them to be reliable and accountable — that’s what we’re looking for in a long-term relationship. With that in mind, Xvand has been a great vendor and partner for us.

Our local network was moved to Xvand to manage and maintain. They license our key software applications and provide access management and help desk services for our employees. They also maintain backup services and file restoration as needed.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The network was reviewed and the applicable structure was agreed to between us and Xvand as well as the software applications required. All files and e-mail boxes were copied over to Xvand servers over a weekend and we went live on a Monday morning after applicable training and local setup occurred.

The measurable outcome was having our employees login to Xvand sessions with minimal problems on Monday. They had people on site to answer questions and resolve problems. All was accomplished with minimal problems.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

They're always available to help and work with us every step of the way, from determining the optimal structure to copying the files to setting up the local workstations. They had people on had to make sure the transition ran smoothly. The help desk was a tremendous resource as we moved onto their servers and learned the system as well as troubleshoot problems.

If there are any issues, we can reach someone at their helpdesk 24/7.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Having Xvand as our managed IT provider allowed us to achieve the same level of IT, if not higher, as a huge corporation with a dedicated IT department for a fracture of the cost while being a small company with no dedicated IT staff.

The most impressive feature is that their helpdesk reps know all or our team members by name. If I call helpdesk I just need to tell them "It's Anna from Wexler" and they know our exact setup and resolve any issue very quickly. They also personalize their approach depending per person.
